Sat works for me. Should we meet about 1? I like the idea of a picnic. We'll just leave the mayo out in the sun for a couple of hours 'till gg86 gets there ;) Naw, that's what coolers are for. I'll prob bring my 8 yo son & 12 yo daughter. Wife is, um, wife. I'll know if she's going to go at about 12:15 :D

Plenty of reasonably-priced motels in the area Mopar.

BryanP and einnor,
QUOTE]If Bowlcut can't make it, I can meet you guys on Sam Ridley Pkwy, say, in Kroger's parking lot, and lead you to the range[/QUOTE]

Sounds Ok to me. I will P.M. you. How about you Bryon?

If it's the 10th, I can make it. If it's the 9th, I'll have to wait for next time as I have a prior commitment.

Works for me.

This is killing me...I've obligated myself every weekend :( .
I hope I'll be in the clear next time.
Mark.

edit 8/2/03...I went to the Cheatham WMA range today. The duck blind drawing was at area H.Q. only a quarter mile from the range so I took a rifle. The targets stands have been rebuilt and are in very good condition...at least they were today! Y'all have a good time at the get together!

STill in Brazil...

Dang, I go to school in Jackson, and would have loved to make it over for the shoot. It would be fun to meet some of y'all. Too bad I am still in Brazil visiting my folks, and won't be back in Jackson until the 18th. Oh well, hope y'all have fun!

Gaiudo

Gaiudo, we will have plenty more for you to join. :)

Dave and Slingers, y'all wanna meet at the normal place? You all can follow me up to Cheatham County. Just an idea...

Have we finalized the details?

Last I heard (read) it was a little up in the air.

Looking forward to it.

Todd

If I'm understanding correctly, it's Saturday, August 9th at 1:00PM at the WMA in Cheatham County. Bring your lunch.

Am I wrong? Anyone?

Sounds good to me. I may be a little late, though.

I'll be there with my fiancee. I get out of work at 8:30 and I'm going to hit the gunshow at the fairgrounds afterwards. I should be at the range prior to 1 though.

Frank

well crap...i thought the gun show was the following weekend.... well crap i may meet ya up there at the show then. anyone want to gather at the gun show first? dont really like keeping all the guns in the car for a few hours walking around but might do it. I dont really need to go to the goodman show but will go to look none the less. could use a double rifle case but think ill go to bass pro for that. oh well, might see me there oft

Wallet Warning:
There's plenty of danger at Bass Pro this weekend. The store is having the Fall Hunting Sale. Plano cases are on sale along with many other things.

Larry

yup....saw that. but thing is, which is good and bad....it is going on all week and next weekend as well. i dont get paid again till the 8th and the sale ends the 10th :D so im all good. need one or two of those plano cases. got 2 .22s with no home, and my mosin and hi point carbine

Anyone taking there wives or girlfriends? My wife had plans made for next weekend but they fell thru. She says she will go to the shoot if she's not going to be the only women there. She's a pretty decent shot with a pistol.

This is not about the get-together but an attempt to reach all of you Nashville folks. I'm an NRA Life Member and a level-headed hunter. I'm looking for some guys who need another hunter in their deer lease within 20 miles or so of Nashville. Happy trails.

OEF VET said he was bringing his Fiance and Sheslinger will be coming along. I think Runt of the Litter said she may make an appearance so there should be a few females there. Bring the wife, the more the merrier.

that would be a big bump :D

Ok Darrin and I had an idea. Looks like there will be 3 or 4 of us at the Goodman Gun Show Saturday morning before the shoot. Anyone want to meet up at say Cracker Barrel say around 9 or so and have breakfast. There is one sorta close to the fair grounds down on Sidco drive, right off I65 at Harding Place. Somewhat out of the way for some, but its only a few mins from the fair ground. It was the closest non fast food place we all could possibly meet up at.

Go grab some biscuits and gravey, then trek over to the fair grounds around 10 or 11, give the vendors enough time to unpack fully. Then from the show head up to the range and be there at about 1.

Is there anyone that is near the range in Cheatham? Id like to know what sorta facilities there is up by the rangers station. I know there isnt much down at the range, but there is camping in the areas up the road a hair. We could go up there if there is a table or two, and eat up there and shoot the bull a little before going back down to shoot. I know I will be packing a lunch of sorts and plan if nothing else to eat off the trunk if I have to. Too many times have I been up there with no water, I usualy forget :D.

And for the ladies, remember its primative. So no place to do much more than a good "squat" if ya have to. Think up at the ranger station might be more "civilized" facilities, or at the gas station down at the entrance.

Cant wait....cause I havent got to shoot since the last meet in which I was rushed. So almost a month since I last fired a gun :(

Directions to the Cheatham WMA range.

I went up there today to "scout it out."

Disclaimer: Distances are approximate and recommended routes are my opinion. YMMV.:D

If you are coming from the eastern side of town, the easiest way is to come I-40 West to White Bridge Road exit. Bear to the right. This becomes Briley Parkway.

Go to the exit for Ashland City Hwy. (Hwy 12) Turn Left on Hwy 12.

At the end of the 4 lane, (as you enter Ashland City) turn left on "bypass 49." (bear to the left at screwball intersection.) This road comes to a "T" at Hwy 49. Turn left onto Hwy.49. (AKA Cumberland St.) **

Go >>>roughly<<< 3 mi. to Hwy 250. Turn left on Hwy. 250. (landmark= Two Rivers Fire Dept.)

Approx. 3.8 miles on 250 to Amoco on left.

At Amoco, turn Left (45 degrees) to Griffithtown Rd. There is a Cheatham WMA sign on the left of the road.

Go 1.3 mi. on Griffithtown Rd. Turn Left at Headquarters Rd. (gravel rd.)

Go .8 (8/10ths) mi. on HQ Rd. Range is on the left.

They have installed new target boards. (1 at 25 yd. berm, a couple each at the other 2 berms.) There are also maps of the WMA at the Amoco.

** if you prefer to go into Ashland City, turn left at the light at Hwy 49 West. (landmark= Mid-Tenn Appliance Ctr.)

Good new boards are a plus. Bring staple guns or tacts for paper targets. Darrin and I will likely bring the saw horces and some cardboard for settiing up something a little closer than 25 yard pistol. If anyone else has similar devices bring them. Also bring clays if you want.

Once you go its easy to find there after. Sounds pretty complicated but its most one road, that does a dog leg in Ashland City.
