I'm looking at a Navy Arms 12 gauge muzzeloader. Do these have removable chokes and if so can different ones be purchased? Do they interchange with any other chokes? I'm asking because I want to shoot round balls from it also. Thanks!

It depends on who Navy Arms imported the doubleguns from and when.

If Pietta, they will have fixed chokes. In the 1990s until now, generally speaking, Pedersoli shotguns have removable chokes and they are interchangeable with Winchester and a couple others that escape me at the moment.

I prefer cylinder bored guns and adjust the load accordingly.

Cylinder bore would be great, I could always have it threaded. I just dont have a chance to ask a question before buying it so I'm kind of nervous. It is a magnum deluxe model so I suppose it could always be re-sold.

The Navy Arms Turkey and Trap is choked Full/Full
The Pietta made guns are open bored and the Pedersoli guns are open bored right barrel, improved cylinder left barrel.

If you want to load round ball, then you will want to have a cylinder bore. In 12 gauge, a cylinder bore measures .729", so you will be using a .715 RB, available from one of the catalogs like Track Of The Wolf or Dixie Gun Works, & a .015" thick patch.

Cabbalas used to sell the Pedersoli 12 gauge shotgun with interchangeable choke tubes for people who are going to be hunting game or shooting skeet & trap. I don't see it listed on their website anymore, just fixed-choke barrels. If you are going to be hunting deer with a round ball, use either a fixed-choke, cylinder bore or a barrel with interchangeable choke tube, in cylinder choke.

If you can find a T/C New Englander .50 caliber rifle with the interchangeable 12 gauge shotgun barrel or a New Englander with just with the shotgun barrel only, that will be a good alternative. Even better, later T/C barrels had interchangeable chokes with the barrel.

To shoot PRBs in this gun, be aware that the barrels are not regulated to shoot to the same POA.
Mine shoots the .715 ball with a .018" patch fairly accurately at 50 yards (4" groups) but the barrels shoot over 10" apart . One is high right and the other is low. Pick the one with the closest POI to the POA and put buckshot in the other one.

Thanks for all the good info. I still won't know if I can get it until I return to work Tuesday. It will primarily be used as a shotgun. But, I've read some good articles on shooting a ball from them so I thought I would ask. I might just stick with buckshot as I have not shot a deer past 30yds in the last ten years. I have both of my Walkers with Goon right now, they will be used for close shots woods, this shotgun would be a companion to them.
