Hey Guys

Could someone walk me thru what it would take to get a sound suppressor here in North Carolina. I am looking at a Integral Suppressor Ruger 10/22. I have houses fairly close and I want to be curtious and not bug them. I have a nice dirt berm that I can target practice at.

Any info you smart edgggumacatid guys can offer would be appreciated ;) .......

Well, to start, I dont think your going to be able to get a CLEO in your county to sign off, so you may have to incorporate.

I'll leave the rest for someone here in NC that has gone through the process, since I've never done it myself.

I think there's a Class III dealer in Charlotte, the last time I was at subguns.com they had a state by state list. You may want to check that out.

We had a similar problem in our county with the CLEO signing off. He thought we were asking his permission, him signing off is not us begging for his permission, but his acknowledgement that we are purchasing a class III firearm. The State Attorney General straightned him out on this matter. You might want to either ask the NC Attorney General to sign off, or ask him to instruct the CLEO to sign off due to it being his job.

Regardless of where the suppressor comes from, it still has to be registered which will still require LEO signoff unless you incorporate. Building your own just saves you money, not paperwork.

ScottsGT - when did this happen? I was under the impression that Richland would not sign off but Lexington would. Has this changed? If so, it'll help determine where I move.

Thanks guys

Thanks guys

I appreciate all the advice............Building one at home is not nearly worth the time that I would be spending at the less than stellar candybar hotel.....

I'll give my County Mounty a call and find out where to go from there.
