Are firearms allowed in a state park?

All deadly weapons, including firearms, airguns, bows and arrows, sling shots, or lethal missiles of any kind, or other deadly weapon is strictly prohibited in all areas owned or operated by the NC Division of Parks and Recreation except for commissioned park rangers and other authorized personnel. Cap pistols and fireworks are also prohibited.

Sometimes living in this state gets me down, such as these asinine NC State Park regulations. No wonder why Eric Rudolph hid here -- he was safe from any "non-sympathetic" civilian encounter. At least the Obama administration agreed to let firearms into National Parks.

Want to take your rifle or pistol into a park in NC? Go to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park...

I just had a buddy ask about what he could take with him to Camp Daniel Boone. I guess a camp knife and hatchet is about all he can I guess.

Well...sort of. The legality of brining guns into National Parks will simply be up to the state where the park is located. So, as NC prohibits guns in their state parks, you still won't be able to carry in a National park there.

NC has a long way to go...

That's an important distinction, thanks. Maybe the best bet is to travel over to TN and camp there...
