Anyone remember a few years past when the so called national data base system was down for a week and no one could buy a firearm?
I seem to remember it was around the time colt announced no sale to civies of most of thier stuff.
I would like to git this strait and if thier are any recollections and links to this story I would appreciate them.
I could be getting two events mixed up . Thanks :scrutiny:

This what you were looking for?
Investigators at the U.S. General Accounting Office report NICS was offline for 215 hours from November 1998 to November 1999. On May 11, 2000, as reported by Wired News, the NICS computer inexplicably crashed. Over 100,000 Americans were prevented from purchasing firearms because of the glitch, which took place on the eve of the pro-regulation "Million Mom March." http://www.packing.org/news/article.jsp/1795
