Just found this gem online:

https://www.michigan.gov/documents/msp/NCIC_Gun_codes_as_of_8-5-2012_407670_7.pdf

It's a list for law enforcement entry of firearms manufacturers codes, calibers, and descriptions into the NCIS computer system, for accurate ID of firearms. Every single manufacturer and model that the law enforcement system has ever come into contact with is listed. The research to produce this list must have been tedious and it's amazingly detailed. Excellent for simply looking up an obscure name to see if it's been noted before.

Was pleased to see that the obscure manufacturer of a German large bore safari rifle made in 1922 that I have is listed as well as the English double rifle manufacturer that built my .450 NE in 1906. NOBODY I am sure has ever comitted a crime with either manufacturers wares (There are 5 figure values on each), but there they are "just in case a LEO needs to enter them into the system". I mean, you never know when an 11.2x72 safari rifle made by August Schuler in Suhl might be used in a crime...

Not sure who else might find it interesting, but here it is for your amusement and edification. Enjoy!

Yeah... just thinking one thing and typing another.

I thought this was an interesting addition to the firearms researchers library of information.
