Can someone please point me to a concise list of federal requirements to buy a firearm. I know them, but I'm in a discussion with a... ahem, gentlemen on another forum who thinks you can buy automatic rifles straight into your home.
For regular firearms Google up Form 4473. Then the fact an instant background check is run. Now if you use the word automatic as in fully automatic as in Class III then start with a Google of NFA Rules and Class III Weapons Transfers. The latter obviously being slightly a more complex process.
Pay particular attention to section 922: Unlawful Acts.
I suggest you tell him to attempt to buy a machinegun and have it delivered to his home. That should open his eyes, provided he has any interest in finding out he's wrong.
