Need advice on adding front and rear sights to a plain barrel shotgun.

I have a Rossi Tuffy .410 shotgun that is absolutely fantastic as my around the property firearm. It does only have a brass bead front sight however and I want to be more accurate when using slugs through it.

I have heard of people adding front and rear sights to plain barrel shotguns before, but all I have been able to find online is clamp on sights for 12 or 20 ga barrels, sights meant to clamp onto barrel ribs, or people adding reflex sights using picrails.

The barrel for this guns is much smaller in diameter to a 20ga, has no rib, and is not tapped for a picrail. Anyone got any ideas on how I can add nice sights to it?

Can't tell from the pics, but from the height of the frame behind the barrel (and the hammer spur poking above it), it's hard to imagine putting a useful rear sight on the barrel; you couldn't get your eye low enough to see it or see through it. I mean, can you even see the front bead when you've mounted the gun? Perhaps consider fabbing a receiver mount for a red dot?

I imagine the frame is alloy so silver soldering a rear and really high ramp front is out of the question. I agree with the Col, a red dot would be one option.

I think you guys are correct and a red dot may be the best option.

The foregrip is plastic, so I am debating taking a picatinny rail similar in style to this one.

and using self tapping screws to secure the top portion of it to the foregrip that runs alongside the barrel. Then I can mount the red dot to that rail.

An acquaintance of mine had a set of take off sights from a Remington M700.
He used a dremel tool to burnish the barrel and JB Weld epoxy glued the sights on. He eventually had a machinist friend drill and tap screw holes but left the sights epoxied to the barrel. He used it to turkey hunt.
Another alternative is to drill and tap the receiver for a one piece scope base, and mount a scope.

Only a little more expensive is this option….

Or:
Already has RedDot installed

Or this:

Not sure if the screw spacing will match your forend.

I already own the Tuffy with an 18" barrel so I would like to avoid picking up another single shot .410.

18" barrel shotgun, I'd just get used to minute of groundhog accuracy for the effective range it has, using the front bead and referencing it to the rear of the receiver. Whatever you do to "improve" the sights will probably cost more than you paid for the gun.
