Any experts near the Austin TX area that can tell me more about my World War II Japanese samurai sword? From what I have been told it was made in the mid or late 1930s. Someone said something about Sada Haru or something similiar about this sword. I want to see what the approximate date would be and what it might be worth. Any phone numbers or websites that would lead me in the right direction would be great. Thanks for your help.

Sorry I do not have a digital camera. I need to get one someday. It is a neat sword and I am just trying to find out more info and a value for it. Any other people that can help me out with this?

Just a reminder, doing ANY kind or work, restauration or the like will dramatically reduce the value. Especially DO NOT sharpen it.

I am not trying to hijack the thread, but I have a few related questions:

I also own a WWII Japanese sword. Mine is an NCO sword. It was taken from a Japanese NCO on the Phillipines immediately following his death.
At some point between then and now, someone spray painted the sheath (?? scabbard ???) as well as the sword handle with gold paint.
Does anyone know of someone that restores stuff like this ?

Also, what is sword polishing ? Is it exactly what the name implies ?
