Don't Tread On Me said:You can get an excellent scope for $300 no doubt about it.
Edited to add: The scopes made for military use cost more, not because of some magic glass, but because on military-grade optics the click adjustments will keep clicking even after being turned 1,000 times back and forth. They will do so and stay positive and precise. That's what you're paying for. If you get a $100 scope with mil-dot and turrets...the dial will turn to mush over time.
One of the desirable things about the Mueller Tac2 is it has "steel-on-steel" adjustments so it should be good for lots of elevation/windage changes plus it has a large adjustment range for only having a 1" tube.
BBLUMEN,
I have not shot with the scope yet (waiting for the rifle to go with it) but the light transmission and clarity are great. The reticle stays sharp and looks like a mil-dot reticle should. The zoom moves smoothly. The turrets are easy to move/set and they have a nice click for each 1/4MOA. I bought it based upon the recommendations and reviews of several precision shooting websites. For under $300, I'm happy with it so far. This scope is supposed to be a cut above the regular Mueller line. There is quite a bit of discussion about it on snipercentral.
Here's a review of the scope: http://www.snipercentral.com/muellertac2.htm
