I've been tinkering with the idea of putting a bipod on my marlin 1895 .45-70 rifle for deer and bear season, and any possibly exotic hunts in north america like moose or elk or whatever else. Since I do most of my hunting the old fashioned way on the ground with out a tree stand I usually sit behind a tree or on ridge tops overlooking swamps or feeding/bedding areas for deer, and also for bear. I've been looking all over for a good bipod and they seem hard to come by. Some have 360 rotation, others dont.. my question is why buy a bipod for hunting if you can't rotate 360 degrees, its called hunting not target shooting. Second why hasn't anyone made a bipod that can cover all positions from prone to sitting to kneeling to small stool. In other words a bipod that could telescope for say 6" to 40". I was wondering if anyone knows of any good bipods for my rifle that will actually fit on the swivel stud and function properly and allow me to cover and sitting to sitting on a small stool heigh, say 20"-40". OR if anyone has a bipod all ready that they want to sell to me, i'd be interested in that too.

I made a tri rail mount for my rifle which will be getting a nice bright flashlight and laser for night hunting and recovery of dangerous game at night... only in emergencies and self defense, so I don't want the bipod to get in the way of that mount, plus if I have a flashlight mounted to the bottom of the rifle the bipod mount will have to not big so big as to not get in the way will have to be out of the way.

Heres a thread I posted pictures recently of waht the tri rail mount looks like and the mounting area.
