My wife's grandfather has a......

The Stevens:
Is a model 620 marked US and has the bursting bomb marking. Serial # 257XX

The Remington:
I could not find a model number anywhere...although from searching the net I think its a M11.
It has a duck scene engraved on the left of the reciever right above that it stamped "property of US navy"
the right side has a phesant engraving.
This also has the bursting bomb stamped on the barrel...and yes...it is a cutts compensator on the end of the barrel.
the barrel is stamped " remington arms co inc ,ilion ny made in the USA.
Serial # 4582XX

Any info on the values of these firearms would be greatly appreciated!!!

There's a lot of collector interest in martially marked shotguns these days. Prices for your Stevens trench gun might surprise you. See http://www.amazon.com/Collectors-United-States-Combat-Shotguns/dp/0917218531 for some ideas as to # manufactured and how to be sure the gun is authentic. There were a lot more riot guns/guard guns in inventory than trench guns of any manufacturer.

As to the Remington, a LOT of US marked shotguns were used to train aerial gunners/antiaircraft gunners, and that's likely what the humpback was used for. The compensator may have been original or might have been put on later, a lot of US marked shotguns were sold as surplus after the war, and pretty inexpensively.

Also see http://www.amazon.com/Winchester-Trench-Combat-Shotguns-collectors/dp/1882391020 and http://www.jouster.com/cgi-bin/milshotgun/shotgun.pl for more info.

the clowns at Jouster.com are giving me a hard time due to the fact that I will not post the entire serial numbers.

Some of them compile lists of features by serial numbers, etc., etc., etc. I wouldn't worry about posting serial numbers no matter how many second-hand horror stories you hear.

Serial numbers

Yea Big Larry on the jouster Shotgun forum has a fit about not posting the whole correct serial number....He is kind of anal about it but is really a pretty nice guy............and knows his stuff

The Remington is a three shot Sportsman model, My guess is the barrel isn't original.

QFT!

I'd just give 'em the entire serial number, there's really nothing bad that'll come out of it. Canfields' group at Jouster really know their stuff about military SGs.
