Am looking for information on Shotgun CUTTS Compensators and their various tubes. I have recently acquired three Remington US Ordnance Marked 12 Ga Model 11 barrels with compensators but no Choke markings on the barrel. They have 1945 Remington date markings. I got them with an original receipt stating “barrels with tubes” but alas no tubes. According to Canfield these were produced by Remington and some were for the Navy. I am putting together a set of tubes for each barrel.

Anyone have a source of info on Cutts and their tubes. Did a search and there is a PDF of the Lyman brochure but it leaves question.

Can Alloy tubes be used with metal compensators?

I have an adjustable one that screws is and does not have a gauge marking. The bag says 16 Ga but it screws into a standard 12 Ga compensator.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The "tubes" screw in the end of the compensator
The tubes should be marked.

Do NOT shoot a 12 ga through a 16 ga tube.

Being military model, I would guess "Cyl Bore"

I have all 3 tubes with my Granddad's Model 11. Full, Mod, Imp Cyl.

The point is that without choke markings it’s factory original and not a postwar civilian addition.

Also the variable choke is not marked and the bag says 10 Ga

There are at least five if not six fixed tubes to screw in a Cutts. I've played with them for fifty years, marvelling at the patterns you can get from those ugly cobs. Tubes I have are the skeet spreader, the .755 i.c., the .725 mod, and three full iirc, going down to "Spr FL at .680. I even made one in the shop once without the fins to quiet it down (the body, that is). A 97 with Cutts was my turkey gun for years and lately I've been shooting a M12 skeet with non-stock Cutts for skeet.
Alloy tubes are fine.

I had Lyman aluminum tubes for my AR-17. They patterned well.

The OP should measure the inside diameter of the tube he has, to ensure he's not about to have a bad day, and ruin a precious 16ga choke.

I've the Spreader and the MOD for my 16ga A5, both blued steel, . . . , alloy.
