I have a new forend for my 9mm SBR and it came with a proprietary barrel nut that needs to be indexed to the receiver. Even with the 4 shims supplied, no combination will allow me to index the nut using a torque range of 30-80 ft lbs.

Should I just add more shims until it indexes correctly at the proper torque range? Will additional shims create issues down the road? Not certain what to do next.

For what Seekins ask for those, have you called them and asked what they think?

Something might be out of spec, or they might send you a couple more shims, at the least they might have some insight.

FWIW, No I wouldn't just keep shimming the nut out. It's not that big a deal in this application, but it's a general bad practice.

Thanks for the insight on the shims!
