need help installing scherer super 2 mag extentions!

Had the same experience, appears to be in the design. Bought a pair of those at a gun show 6 or 7 years ago, finally tried to install one - 14 rounds was tight (on a G 21 mag), 15 was a no go. Took the bottom off the mag and loaded 15 rounds letting the follower and spring get pushed out (light pressure on spring), at that point the bottom of the follower would have been stopped by the super 2 base pad. Looks to me that even if the spring can compress that much, there just ain't enough room without chopping the follower - I'm no expert, but that doesn't sound like a good solution. Might be able to get two more in the G20 (10mm) mag with them, haven't tried. To be fair to Scherer, the ones I got may have been prototypes, got some "plus 2" base pads for the G 17 at the same time that only let one more in. Contacted Scherer and was informed their first ones allowed one and a half more. (that from memory, was a few years ago) I lost their number, but if you haven't done so already, asking them about it is probably the best source of information.
Good luck

Don't use them. There were some mag extensions on m G21 mags and the mags became unreliable as the springs weakened. They were fine after I put standard Glock bases on them.

Throw them in the trash & don't look back!

I tried +2's a few years ago, and all was good, until I dropped a loaded mag on the floor of my carpeted living room.

The extension blew off, and the mag puked it's guts out the bottom. (Actually more like diarrhea then puke I suppose!)

SO, I tried the other one.
After a couple of drops, it did the same thing.

Loose ammo, flying springs & bouncing +2's all over the ground will not win many gunfights!

The plus 2 floor plates are a answer in search of a problem. Mirroring rcmodel's experience I dropped a fully loaded magazine on the floor and it exploded. The only use I can see for one is to extend the the grip on a sub-compact pistol, like the Pierce offerings for the Glock 26/27. I'll take a reliable 13rd factory mag over a 15 rd not-so-much one any day of the week.

The other thing is, +2's only add two in 9mm.

In .40 at least, they only add one.

Return them, or trash them.
Either way you will be way better off.

Another reccomendation to get rid of them, except maybe for use at the range. I used to have them on my G21 mags I used in IDPA comp, but never used them for defensive carry. In the .45 they will only add one, two in the 10mm. When you get a model 30 for concealed carry, I highly reccomend the Pearce grip base plate with finger rest extension, they're great, IMO.

Yep, that's how you install them or almost any other thing that says Scherer.

There are some good extensions out there, I have a few G17 mags with +5s on them from Glockmeister. The extension is aluminum, locks on with allen screws at the back and comes with the correct spring. They are completely reliable in the 5 years I have used them. Arredondo and a few others make good Glock extensions.

Arrendondo makes mag base plates .45acp is +4, 10mm is +5, .40 cal is +5, and 9mm is +6. Midway sells the kits that come with an extra power spring, sleeve ,plate and an install tool. Pretty slick and they work great.
