I have a winchester model94-30wcf rifle the serial #153**** Any help on age and value would greatly appreciated fro insurance reasons. Thank You

According to my info your Model 94 was made in 1948. A little piece of trivia: Winchester Model 94 serial number 1,500,000 was presented to President Harry S.Truman in 1948. As for the value of your Winchester, who knows? The question you asked was like asking " I have a Chev , what year is it and what is it worth?" with no picture. To give an approximate value some details like condition, alterations, barrel length , mag length, caliber, and if it has been reblued. A picture always helps because what one person considers good condition may not be the same as some one else. But do not take the sandpaper to your 94 to make it look nice because some of them have extra value because of special features . To help you, more information is needed.

I think that date should be 1949, but definitely pre-64, which adds some value if in new or nearly new condition. Like new, in the box, value would be around $500; anything much less, it is a hunting rifle and value in average condition would be $200-300. Any severe damage, rust, stock dings, would lower the value.

Thanks for your help, I found it my grandpas closet cleaning out the house, Its in great shape, Just alittle cleaning and she'll be good as new!

My info says that Winchester 94 for 1949 started at 1,626,100. But there are a large number of sources. The one I am using is hard to quote the address. Do a search of "SERIALIZATION" and when going through the hits you will come on one by BLUEBOOK INC click on this one it has alarge number of serial numbers for a large number of different makes and models.

It really isn't important, but Madis says production restarted with 1500001 in 1949 and 1950 started with 1626101.

I don't know the reason for the even number startup, but I suspect they just didn't know where production left off in 1942 and jumped to a number they knew had not been used.
