Hello, Everyone.

I am new to this forum, and have a rather, what I believe to be, urgent question. I recently got a Mossberg 500, new in box, combo edition. I put 75rounds through it this week, shooting trap, and today I field strip it with success.

The only thing is, after I was done field stripping it, I noticed the Magazing Plug was moving whenever I tilted the gun. I can feel it going through the spring up and down. It is moderately noisy. I do not want to take it out for hunting purposes, but would like to somehow get it back to being silent and keeping it in one position. It does have both of the o rings.

Is there a way to do this? Thanks!

As far as I know, there's no way to silence the plug in a Mossberg other than removing it from the magazine tube. Maybe some of the Mossberg fans here have some different ideas...

The plugs in the Mossbergs move freely, no way that I know of to change it.

If the noise really bothers you, just drill a small hole in the forward end of the plug. Then use a thin wire to tie the plug to the forward-most coil of the magazine spring.

This will hold the plug in the forward-most position and not allow it to slide up and down.
