I finally got a chance to take out my Romanian TT-33 (7.62x25) pistol for the first time and came upon a problem.

After firing a few rounds, suddenly the trigger wouldn't do anything. The hammer is cocked, there's a round in the chamber but pulling the trigger doesn't release the hammer. So i ejected the round and the gun worked fine to the end of the clip. This happen almost once in every clip.

The gun is extremely accurate, much better than my CZ-52. The trigger is delighfully light. Yeah, it's fun to shoot, but what can i do about the trigger not releasing? I looked closely at how the gun is put together when i cleaned it. I noticed that the entire hammer assembly comes out as a unit. I wonder if it is coming out slightly when firing and the trigger "plate" misses the catch that releases the hammer. As you can see, i have no idea what these parts are called. I assume that if you know the TT-33, you'll know what i'm talking about.

Any ideas or suggestions? (I have no gunsmithing skills to speak of.)

These guns had a safety added to comply with import regulations. I'd check the safety to see if its moving when you are shooting or if loose parts of the safety can move. Sometimes it can be the shooter doing it inadvertently. It may be a bad safety installation.

Was your slide all the way forward? Some of the surplus ammo case necks are a wee bit too big, diameter-wise. Your round may not have been fully seated in the chamber. Next time it happens, look at the round for rub marks. Happened with my CZ 52.

It's not the safety. When the safety is engaged, the trigger does not move. In my case the trigger works fine; it just doesn't release the hammer.

I look at the rounds i picked up. It could be the slide; i hadn't thought of that.
