I know everybody here has got to be sick of these Mosin threads but I need help.

My 91/30 has an accuracy issue . With the bayonet off it will either string the shots left to right or up and down forming a five to seven inch groups , or there will be a decent group but with one or two fliers that can be up to four inches away from the rest of the group. But with the bayonet on it makes a picture perfect two to three inch groups with Czech surplus and my reloads. I tried shiming the action and puting upward pressure on the end of the barrel with buisiness cards but I cannot get to shoot well with the bayo off. I know this is how they were intended to be shot but does anybody know what I can do?

I bought this rifle because it without the bayonet, it fits me like a glove. It has perfect balance, the lenght of pull and the straight grip fits me just right, and I like the long sight radius. But the second you attach the bayonet, all that goes out the window.

I am assuming you don't want the bayo on when firing, but you want the benefits to accuracy.

Something you may consider is to go out and buy another bayonet (junky one) and chop off the blade. Affix the round portion that is left. Should give about the same level of modifications as having the whole bayonet mounted.

I thought of that too. How much do bayos go for?

I also wunder if anyone makes a clamp on muzzle break would do the same thing

tickbite supply has them for 25

and they can be found much cheaper. i just cant think of where iv seen them

most mosins seem to benefit from pressure on the end of the barrel. id say shim it at the action and maybe the forgrip

slug your barrel!!! Sounds more like loose bore/bullet slop than anything. Try using .303 bullets sized to .312.
Thats the first thing I did before I start reloading. It measures about .314 at the lands and .309 at the grooves. I dont think this is a problem because I fired relaods with .308 and .311 diameter bullets in it several times with good results just so long as the bayo is on.
