I came across the BPS tactical at Gander Mountain for I think $350.00 and from what I've seen it looks like a good gun. The only problem I am having is that I can't find any info on them, on Browning's website or the net. I know they are made in Japan and that makes me wonder if they are even a quality gun. So I need some input on it before I decide to buy it.

Of course it's a quality gun. Browning brand firearms are fine guns and have good QC.

Browning has used Japanese manufacturing for years with excellant results.
You won't have to worry about the quality

They're a pain to deep clean- field stripping consists of removing the barrel. Other than that... hey, it's a Browning. I just prefer something easier to get into, if necessary.

fwiw,

I have the very gun you are talking about and it is, in my opinion, one of the best pump action shotguns around.
Browning has used Japanese manufacturing (as has Weatherby and others) for many, many years. The 'Tactical' is my second Browning BPS, the other being my hunting shotgun that I have had for years and it has NEVER failed to fire or eject. The new 'Tactical' has performed as well and should continue to perform.
Bottom line? Get the Browning and you won't be sorry. Compare the action to a Mossy, Nova or a Remy and you will see. The only shotgun I have handled that compared to the BPS is an Ithaca and it is the 'parent' of the BPS.

Allkist816, I bought the Hi-Cap at the Raleigh gun show. Main reason at the time was that I am left handed and knew of the Browning as good reliable guns. Finally had a chance to break it in at the public range last week. Went thru 135 shells in about 90 minutes. 3"magnum slug, 00, 8's. Not a hickup and recoil was not anything to talk about except much less than I thought. Gun is heavy which helps. Oh when the slugs went off people noticed. LOL. No short shuck fired as fast as i could pump. No problems but the barrel sure got awful hot.
