I am considering purchasing one of these and was wondering what the popular opinions on this site were, all the reviews I've read on it are very good although I'd rather have a P226 or 9 the cost of those are a little prohibitive at this time. ::uhoh: Before anyone recommends this Gun in 40 S&W, I already have the Smith M&P in that caliber along with a 357 Sig barrel for it.;) and I want a decent DA/SA pistol in a caliber I really enjoy shooting. IT would be used mainly as a target and home defense pistol, consequently I am considering one with Night Sights to be used in tandem with my M3 Light.

It looks like a quality pistol to me. I've heard it has a great trigger and at a good price. 400 bucks for a Sig? What a good deal. I haven't shot one but looked at them at shows. They seem to get good reviews for the nice DA/SA trigger.

The 40 S&W models coming out of Exter have had some reported issues. I have one in 9mm and love it. It is a super deal in the $400 range.

Mine is an older German gun withthe newer small grip installed. The newer 9mms ones with the external extractor seems to be running well but research the 40 over on the Sig forum.

Thanks for all the info guys and thanks to metalart for the link, I have bookmarked it for the next magazine that I buy, unfortunately, since I was 99% sure I was going to purchase the SP2022 in 9mm and it only comes with 1 mag, I went ahead and ordered a spare one from Top Gun Supply last night. It cost me $41.90 with shipping and all, if I'd been a little more patient, I could have gotten it a few dollars cheaper:banghead: but oh well at least I got what I wanted and it will probably be here before the pistol gets to my FFL!
Oh yeah, I wanted to add that if anyone wants one, the best deal I've found on them is $437.00 at http://www.jetguns.com

Buy with confidence. The SP2022 is a phenominal pistol regardless of price. There have been a few owners reporting problems with the .40 but all reports are that the 9MM is rock solid. I find I can shoot mine just as well as my other SIGS which I can shoot better than anything else I have ever tried.

If you can find a triple serial number German model so much the better as it will come with night sights and Ilaflon finish like mine does.

IMO the SP2022 is as fine a DA/SA poly pistol as there is for under $1000.

Here is mine from last range trip a couple months ago shooting offhand. I replaced the original grips for the medium grips and installed the standard trigger which suits me better.

sigs are nice but expensive. Everyone I know who has purchased a m&p says they wish they had spent the money on a glock. I say buy them all.

The length of pull in the DA mode is the difference between the triggers.

It seems, at least for me, to be a bit more than that. The angle/arc of the two triggers is different and the standard trigger seems to be a bit wider/flatter where my trigger finger contacts it. My trigger was Ilaflon finished (new SP2022 most likely will not) also and felt slippery to me where I don't get that with the standard trigger. While the differences are subtle I felt for me it was well worth it to change to the standard trigger, as all my other SIGs have and is what I am used to, while probably most are fine with the usual "short" trigger that comes with the SP2022.

Here is my SP2022 with original grips and trigger to show viper7342 .
