I'm looking for some data using Benchmark/Hrndy V-max in 40grn,50grn and 55grn.
I'm working up a varmint load and I'm trying to close down some groups. Varget is my norm, but I've heard a lot of good things about Benchmark.

Any help?

Thanks!

never shoot benchmark. I mostly shoot h380 out of my 22-250.
36.7 gr of H380 and a 55gr v-max does a nice job for me.

I am using Varget under the 55gr V-Max and get around .60" groups @100yds. COL is .010 off the lands in my Savage 12FLV. I full length size the brass before the 1st firing out of my rifle. After that it's neck size only wth an RCBS die.

I also tried some 40gr V-Max loads but was shooting them ~4100fps on the high end of the load scale. Didn't want to go above 4,000fps so I gave up on them 40gr loads. My concern was from increased muzzle wear.

Also have tried H-380 under 50gr Blitz but didnt like the performance.

I'm running 35.7 of Varget with the 55grn V-max and it will turn .23 @100 in both of my 700 VS's. Both of these things are tack drivers(they're not totally stock) I heard that Benchmark is awesome powder and wanted to see if I can squeeze 'em down a bit more. I tried the 40 grns with varget and they open up close to .80!!!! The 50grn were marginally better @.76.
I really don't have much to complain about at .23, but it's always a quest to tighten them down..

Thanks for the info.

I tried H380 in my .223 VLS and I hated how dirty it was..it meters really, really well, much better than varget..but, it was just dirty.

Do you find the same thing?

I found that H-380 was hitting left about 3" from the Varget loads. No big deal cause different powders and loads do that.

But, I couldnt get the groups below 1.5" so I gave the remaining powder to sumpnz.
