Need Some Advice...

I'm heading off for PI soon, and when I gradute boot it'll be close to a number of special days for me. namely christmas, my GF's birthday and our 1 year anniversary together. She and I like to shoot together and I was thinking of buying her a rifle for her birthday. Now my question is, what would you guys reccomend? She's a small girls, 5'2 under 130 lbs, and she doesnt like too much recoil but she can handle an SKS pretty good (little big for her though). I was thinking an SAR-3, or SAR-2, whichever is chambered for the .223 . She also likes black rifles, and prefers semi-autos to lever and bolt guns so I want something that would keep her interested in shooting for a while. Cost isnt much of an issue, but I would like to keep it under $650, sine she HATES when I spend money on her (at least she SAYS she hates it) Thanks for any advice you guys can give.

But if you don't demonstrate somehow that you're thinking of her, you will find out what hatred means. Buying presents is one way of showing this. Saying "I love you" and meaning it, is another way. But you have to back that up with action.

BTW, congrats on joining up, good luck & do well @ PI.

As to what gun to get her, make that a project for the 2 of you. She'll guaranteed like it if she was in on the research for the purchase. And that gets you some quality "us together" time.

AR with a collapsible stock should fit her. You should be able to find a nice one in the $650 range, upgrade to a match trigger / optics on some other gift-giving occasion.

It's just nicer than a SAR. I'm not sure how reliable SARs are for .223, though they are nice for the 7.62x39 and maybe for the 5.45x39

I do love the girl, more than life itself. And she doesnt actually hate me spending my money on her, she told me she just says that so I know she wants me for me and not my money.

As for the AR, we've gone shopping before and she likes them, but the regular stocks are too big for her and she doesnt like the "look" of the collapsible type. I forgot to mention that if I do get her an SAR, I would put a fold under butt on it. 5.45 ammo is difficult to come by around here, except at gun shows, which there arent too many. This measn it's either a caliber I own, or something very easy and very cheap to find.
