Need some help on S&W model 13-1 .. Bobbed hammer?

Curious- Why do you have to believe that and/or why is this so important to you?

Bobbing the hammer isn’t that unusual, nor are the 13s. It’s entirely possible the gun was owned and converted by a non-LEO.
Didn't say it was important to me, but I don't run across very many 13-1 bobbed hammer revolvers like this. You are right, it could have been converted by anyone, but WHO would need something like that?

It's not that radical a modification. I've converted several of my revolvers to DAO. For carry, some like the absence of a snag-inducing spur. Some also see the SA option as unnecessary (or even a liability) in a defense revolver. Others like DAO because they shoot DA anyway, and the gun can be tuned with a lighter action without sacrificing reliability. Below is an interesting read on the topic:

With documentation as I recall, around $450. Like I said, wish now I'd grabbed it. BTW, back in the day when I was only a bit more seasoned than rookie green, I carried a 6" M19 with a bobbed hammer. In hind sight, that was probably not a good decision for a uniformed duty weapon.

I have carried a hammer bobber S&W 60 since 1974 and still do in the warmer weather, as to me its a close range (10-15 yards) revolver and shooting double action I can hold 5 shot slow fire groups 6" or smaller and fast fire 8-10" at those distances.
