i was in my fgs yesterday and saw a most interesting pistol. it was a springfield armory, stainless steel, single stack, commander size, with the v10 porting system. lock up was good, trigger was decent, and it seemed better fit than my previous 5" loaded model. price was $525. i tried to search for some info and opinions about the gun, but my google-fu failed and my search results turned up no mention of a single stack comm. length. lots of info on the officer size. should i snatch this up, or hold my peace?

We sold quite a few of them when I worked for Gander Mountain.

It's the "champion" model, correct?

The V10 porting really turned me off when I had a chance to shoot one. It's not necessary, and makes it louder, dirtier, and and harder to clean.

I also find the safety too sharp on the underside, but its easily taken care of with an emory board and some time.

i'm not overly concerned with noise and dirt. i wear plugs when i shoot and i clean my guns after every range sesion. i know, its unneccesary, but i like to do it. this thing would be used primarily as a range gun. someday i might comete with it. or it might find its way into my trunk or glove box.

i was more concerned with its accuracy, and the durability of the bushingless bull barrel. also, anyone know if the 4" champion frame is capable of having a standard comm slide fit to it? are the commander frame and the champion frame the same, or different?
