This company makes two part clamp on bayonet lugs to fit various rifle barrel diameters and bayonets.

I'm curious if one could be fitted to a Mini-14, the adapter itself would fit, but not sure if the bayonets they have them listed for would work. They list for an M-14 and M-16 bayonet, but I think the bayonet barrel hole that would most closely fit a Mini-14 would be a M-1 carbine M-4 bayonet.

So the question is, is the attachment point of either an M-14 or M-16 bayonet the same as an M-4?

They also make them for AK bayonets, anybody know the diameter of the barrel hole in an AK bayonet?

This was just an idea that I tossed around, the practicality is zero.

There isn’t enough barrel in front of the sight on my Ranch rifle to hold a bayonet, and I can’t think of anyone I’d want to use it on.

Look for a front sight / flash hider combo or slip on flash hider to serve as the attachment point for the bayonet ring ...

Back when folks were just getting into the “CAR-15” shirt gas system guns folks would use these rings on the long bit of barrel between the front sight tower and flash hider as there was to much distance to mount a regular bayonet there. When you tried the bayonet ring rattled loos over the barrel and the blade only stuck out the false edge beyond the flash hider….. so about two and a half inches of point.

the full auto Mini-14 and semi clone came with a bayonet stud and flash suppressor that worked with the M7 Bayonet for the M16 and so also the M9 and Stoner bayonets

the M16 bayonets rings need that NATO standard grenade launcher sized flash suppressor to not rattle( there was a special multi fingered sprig collar that went on between the flash suppressor and split lock washer on the M16 and M16a1 rifles to help keep old style spigot type grenades from falling off though few have seen them) the late 1960s Short FN muzzle device, the HK G3 flash suppressor, and M16 and FNC all had such muzzle devices…. I want to say 22mm. This allowed the use of the old WWII rifle launched pyro techniques and 1950s ENERGA anti tank rifle grenades still in stock

the Mossberg 500 series shot guns that take bayonets use the M7 measurements

sorry babble mode got bumped
