Is there some "trick" in removing the Extractor Plunger and Spring from the slide.? I removed the bolt pin and have the bolt and extractor removed from the slide. The only thing left to come out is the extractor plunger and spring, but it wont come out. I can press in on the face of the plunger and push it into the spring and it compresses, but when released, it will not come out of its groove in the slide. The plunger goes as far as the face of the bolt and stops. I dont want to force anything, but it looks like that plunger and spring should pop right out. I have it soaking in Breakfree for now on the assumption that some fouling might be built up at the end of the groove. Anyone have some experience with this and can pass on some tips.?

Try pushing the extractor plunger back into the recess with a cup tip punch while turning it slightly.
I think the newer guns have plunger with a nub that fits a slot and groove and you need to turn the plunger away from the groove before it will release.

If it is an older gun try securing the slide in a padded vise and rapping the back of the slide with a plastic hammer, that should dislodge the plunger and spring.
Be sure to place a catch all tub or at least a folded towel under the slide to catch the plunger and spring when they pop free.HTH

Kept pushing the plunger back and forth with a drift punch while keeping it saturated with Breakfree. It finally came out. There wasn't any crud in there. Seemed like there may have been a little burr in the channel. It goes in an out nice and free now. Thanks for your help.
