Hi All,

I'm new to this site and pretty new to shooting. I'm looking to get a 9mm and leaning towards getting the Sig P226 Classic 22 with SRT (short reset trigger) and then getting the 9mm conversion kit.

Does anyone else have this weapon (or a any Sig) and are you happy with it? Since ultimately my biggest concern is having a 9mm would you just get a 9mm and skip the whole .22 plus conversion kit route?

Thanks! Looking forward to your thoughts!

Stephanie

Welcome to THR.

I love Sigs, and have owned a few. I'd love a new 226 with a conversion kit! If you have the money for a pistol and a conversion kit, go for it. On the other hand, you can buy some decent .22 handguns for the same cost as a conversion kit, and have two guns out of the deal.

Choices...

welcome to THR

the 226 .22lr is a nice gun and an outstanding deal if they are still coming with the discount coupon with the CF upper...it's almost like getting the conversion kit for free.

i already had a 9mm 226, so i had to pay full price for the .22lr conversion kit

Thanks for the feedback, and the welcome. I appreciate it. I think I'll probably go ahead with the P226 .22 and get the 9mm conversion. It is quite an expense but seems like a sound investment.

Any thoughts on the "beaver-tail" frame? Only negative I've heard is that it gets caught up on clothing. At this point, not a concern since getting a carry license in my state is pretty much impossible. Any other thoughts?

Thanks again! I really do appreciate it.

KB, I bookmarked your site as well. Thanks!

i like my sigs & think they are great guns. i would perfer to have one but my sig p226 .40 does not. i believe its a good choice & best of luck to you.

many long time Sig fans on Sigforum do not like the beavertail just for the look. it does serve to help placement of your hand during a rapid draw, but i've found them a bit broad and deep for my taste.

i'd go with the 226ST, without the beavertail or SRT, and send it to Grayguns for his reduced reset and actionwork...better quality and increase safety margin of operation

thanks 9mm. i've been waiting a week now to get approved to get the sigforum. hopefully soon. thanks for the input. good to know.

sure, hope it helps...there at several of us SigForumites on THR

hang in there, i've heard it does take a while to get access
