thinking of trading my "not very Handi Rifle" in 25-06 for a marlin x7 in 25-06 love the caliber just not so the rifle

anyone have any positive or negative experiences with a marlin X7

X7 is an awesome rifle and in my mind the best entry level bolt gun going. You can swap barrels easily with the savage style nut and I have heard of guys using savage barrels for caliber changes.

I love my XS7 in 7mm-08 so far. Eventually it will become a semi-custom .260rem with a premium barrel, but for now I am enjoying it stock. I got a stainless version for $350.

It may not be the case now, but I know many have purchased standard x7 rifles for <$300. I wouldn't get heartburn over $40 if it was convenient, though.

I have an xl7 in .270 and i love it. It shoots very good with pretty much every ammo i've tried in it and i love the way the gun feels.

Maybe he got one of the many that shoot pie plate groups at 100 yards. I really wanted a Handi until I shot a couple that couldn't hit the broad-side of a supermarket. One was a .243, the other -06.

I have a 223 but haven't shot more than a handful of rounds through it as it was sort of an impulse buy. Seems accurate enough. My main experience is with NEF shotguns, which worked well for me until I could afford repeaters.

sorry I havent been on in a few days the rifle shoots good well atleast 1.5 moa is good enough for me but the Handi weighing at 9.75 lbs with bipod and scope is not too easy to carry and with the bipod on it does'nt have enough room to shoot offhand

BTW roadchoad guess ill have to get another Handi with one of those nice thumbhole stocks

XL7 might be the best bolt action for the money today. Accurate, great trigger, well built, you cannot go wrong. Never read a bad review on one. I have no idea why they are so difficult to find and so few gun shops carry them.

While I also like the X7's, I think the Savage Model 10's or 11's with the Nikon scope are much better rifles and worth the extra money over the Marlin.

I also would more than likely choose the Ruger American over the Marlin. The quality of current Marlins isn't the same quality that Marlin is generally known for.
