I had an e-mail from Beretta USA today....Neos Carbine will be available mid-June, MSRP $315.84.

I'm still trying to find a physical store that caries em, all I've seen is midwayUSA.com and that's about it. Not a peep on Beretta's website (you should be able to order them directly) all I could find was a press release.

absolutley it;s California legal cause it's rimfire the assault weapon ban in CA specificaly addresses centerfire only. You can pistol grips, short barrels, folding stocks whatever you want on a rimfire.

12276.1 (a) Notwithstanding Penal Code section 12276, “assault weapon†shall also mean the following: Rifles
(1) A semiautomatic, Centerfire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:
(A) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon.
(B) A thumbhole stock.
(C) A folding or telescoping stock.
(D) A grenade launcher or flare launcher.
(E) A flash suppressor.
(F) A forward pistol grip.
(2) A semiautomatic, Centerfire rifle that has a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.
(3) A semiautomatic, Centerfire rifle that has an overall length of less than 30 inches.

oh and ofcourse a picture, I tihnk it looks pretty darn slick.

Sorry to rehash a 2 year old thread, but it's 2 years later and still not available. Midway USA still says coming soon and the expected date has been updated yet a gain to say December 1st of this year, but to be honest I'm not gonna hold my breath. I don't think it will ever be released.

Which is why my wife is thinking of selling her NEOS or trading it off.

Five years after this thread was posted and it's STILL not here.

Spoke with the Beretta reps at the NRA show and guess what they said:

"Definitely available later this year".

Unbelievable, you'd think it was the new space shuttle they were designing.

How do you say "vaporware" in Italian?...

Seriously, the carbine in pic looks neat (kind of like the Browning Buckmark carbine), and I'd consider buying one, if there was one to buy...

Well to repost on an old thread the neos kit is now avaible check out the beretta website you can order it from them.

I dunno, I heard they where having some problems with short barreled rifle rules with the atf and stuff. But I plan on getting one of these sometime this year. Be nice and fun to bring to the range and comepare with my Ruger 10/22.

I can't seem to find it on the Beretta site. Is it discontinued already?:D ^^^Nevermind

Wouldn't this fall afoul of the ATF's recent letter about converting a pistol-based carbine kit back into a pistol? (i.e.: once the stock is on it it has to be a rifle or an SBR -- can't be a pistol again?)

That might be causing them some second thoughts about releasing it.

It looks like the carbine kit is a frame by itself, it certainly has the magwell/grip as a unified piece of the stock, which means the only NFA issue would be using the pistol barrel on the carbine kit. Not sure what Beretta could do about that.

Is the carbine frame the serial numbered part? Do you have to transfer the carbine "kit" just like a complete firearm? If so, then yes, the only NFA issue would be adding the short barrel.

Doesn't look like that's the case, though.

If the serial numbered receiver is used as part of the carbine/rifle (by bolting on the magwell-stock part) then the ATF says it IS a rifle (once it has been configured that way once) and cannot be made back into a pistol -- even by simply using the factory parts. Even in pistol form it would be a short-barreled rifle (a firearm under 26" oal and/or under 16" barrel that is "made from a rifle") and would be a felony if not registered as such.
