Never point the muzzle of a weapon at anything you aren't willing to destroy

You have absolutely no idea of the measure of her intellect based on this horrific incident. Nor do I. Lots of extremely smart people out there do some outrageously obtuse things from time to time. Many intrinsically bright people never develop or use their gift as well. We also don't know if she was cajoled/coerced into taking part in this event.

They ran a test and the book stopped the bullet. Then they ran it again for real, something changed and the target was killed. Ever ponder that they might have been thinking too logically? That they were being so technical about things that they ignored (or didn't know about) the absolute golden rule -- NEVER point the muzzle of a firearm at anything you don't wish to destroy?

You have never done anything like this have you ? You just make me wonder .

She was negligent, to a degree most would find criminal in nature. What they attempted to do defies all common sense. I think manslaughter or negligent homicide charges are in order. She is every bit as fault as someone who kills their passenger in a drunk driving accident and is charged with their death. The "victim's" choices inn both cases may have contributed to their deaths, but the shooter/driver can and should be held responsible foer their roles in causing the death of another, a death that would not have occurred without their direct actions being the catalyst. What I don't understand necessarily, is that there was no one in the audience of 30 that had the slightest knowledge of firearms? I can understand the shooter and victim being ignorant, but you'd think at least one person out of 30 would realize that there was absolutely no way that said stunt would be successful or safe. In a way, everyone who gathered to watch, and did nothing to stop it, are responsible in a sense, though not a legal sense, IMO

This just sad. You have to realize that a great majority of people do not know ANYTHING about firearms other than what they see in the movies and on TV/internet or read about in novels. How many of us watched the Sat morning cartoons and imitated what we saw on there until we were taught differently by older responsible adults. This is largely not happening with respect to firearms in the present day society (mostly due to the lack of need of firearm use over the generations) and sadly we now reap those benefits. It gives me great pleasure that locally, many newly minted adults are trying to regain the knowledge of farming and firearms use that go along with working with the land as they see benefits of being better able to control their own future. I will continue to support this trend.

She doesn't belong in jail, it won't help anyone. She does need some sort of punishment like community service or something.

It was seriously stupid, and yes, sometimes less than stupid people do stupid things, but she ain't no rocket scientist.

People do stupid things with all kinds of instruments, and get hurt, maimed, & sometimes killed. Sad, but life.

Someone that dumb should seriously not be in charge of raising kids.

I agree but would be lots of kids without parents. One of the first things my Father did when I showed interest in guns was to get an old 5 gallon can that had a hole rusted in the bottom and filled it up with lake water, then shot it with an 8mm Mauser. Pretty dramatic results that left an impression that's lasted many decades.

Lots of folks these days no nothing about firearms they haven't learned from movies or the news. So of course they are idiots when it comes to the subject.

Not only that but 39 kids were killed in 2016 because someone forgot and left them in the car.

That's what it is, they were just too logical.

There's always a white knight in this situations that swoops in to defend people. They're both idiots, this isn't a simple mistake even smart people could make, it's two idiots trying to get famous. Hell, of course she's saying she didn't want to do it, wouldn't you if your baby daddy was laying on the floor dead after you shot him?

You're just compounding your own display of ignorance...
