New 10MM Striker Fired Pistols

10mm nut in a time warp here - the newer offerings just don't do it for me. The XD 10mm feels better than the M&P 10mm to these hands but neither screams "Take me home!" like a S&W 1076, G20 or any others already in the quiver. The Sig seems OK, but not compelling in a way.

Yeah, my S&W 1006 isn't going anywhere, perfect 10mm for me.

I really wanted to get behind the M&P line but just too many kinks to work out before I'd be comfortable plunking down the cash for one right now.

I'm confident they'll get squared away soon though.

To my eye the new polymer, striker SIG looks like a bag of smashed ass****s.

Might be a great piece but too soon to tell and I simply don't like the styling.

For me, that leaves the XDM.

I've had 3 pistols in the XD line over the years and never had a single problem with any of them.

That's where I'll put my money when I'm ready to buy.

I bought a Sig X-Ten today, was surprised to find one. I liked how it fit my hand as the grip is based on the 9mm/40 size, more natural than my old G20. My gas pedal takedown lever popped right in. No manual safety, no grip safety crap..I like it. It's gonna be out in the woods, used as a tool. I could care less about styling, my M&P 10 looks nicer I guess, but I'll take the added barrel length. Hopefully we'll have some time to try it out tomorrow.

Did you ever shoot that Sig? Would be very interested to hear how you liked it.

I was handling a Sig P320 X5 9MM the other day at a LGS. I thought it really felt sweet and had a really nice trigger. Would love to hear the feedback on the X10.

Thanks! Buzz

I haven't gotten it out to shoot yet. Between the honey-do lists, catching Covid, and a holiday weekend I haven't been able to get to the range. I'm waiting on some 10mm brass to load. I'll post a range report when I get it out.

Just getting over the Chinese virus myself. Hope you feel better soon!

My XTen will be here Monday, I will be delayed on NICS till Friday, hopefully range report this weekend. Holosun will be delivered today.

Now to find mags and holster. Some P320 holsters fit, some don't. But I am local to Garrett Holsters, I may drop it off with them.

What’s the current market rate on the Sig XTen?

I paid $1k from grabagun.com. Yes I know it's over MSRP. But I am impatient.

Thanks! I am much better now. I put 50 through the X-Ten today, some Sig 180gr. It's pretty mild for 10mm, my G20 handled it very well and the X Ten does too. I was a wee bit worried about the higher bore axis of the 320 and recoil, but it's not much different than I remember. Shoots good, the trigger is okay. A little spongy, but after swapping my Grey guns trigger kit FCU in it...much better. It does feel a little nose heavy, but I like it so far.

The Gray Guns kit is rated for the 10mm? Only asking because Sig said their 10mm FCU is compatible with other calibers but not the other way around.

I don’t know what to think about Glocks in general. From what I read they’re brutally reliable which is fantastic and what I want in a 10mm because it won’t be a range toy it will be an outdoor carry gun. But! Its lacking in other places. I’ve read mixed reviews about accuracy suffering with fast hard cast, the slide isn’t cut for a red-dot, the different grip angle which has bugged me in the past but I’m sure with some practice can over come, and then of course the infamous glock smile or glock bulge . I like the price point of Glock 20s and used ones are even better. But its kinda a moot point when you’d go out and buy an aftermarket barrel and slide to make your Glock compare with an S&W. So you think why not buy an S&W? Because they don’t have the history or reliability Glock does. So I’m sitting on my hands till something jumps out at me.

So you are ruling out the Springfield offerings?

Kinda, not a huge Springfield fan. Buddy has a Springfield 45 and I do not shoot it well.

But thats a fair point maybe I need to revisit Springfield.

Full disclosure, I am a Springfield fan, as I own several including a 4.5” 10mm OSP. Their 10mm offerings are pretty nice. I have the older version shown. The new Elites are even better.

I did not know the Springfields are fully ambidextrous. That is a big plus for me. I’m the only right handed male in my family for generations. So while its not my problem I’ve grown up attracted to ambi guns.

Follow up: So I’ve been patient and was leaning towards the Sig P320 X10, but I recently bought a Sig P320X Compact to try something beside my tried and true Glocks. After a few hundred rounds, I was less than impressed with the P320. It shot okay, ran fine, no hiccups, but I’m sticking with my G19 for now.

So that left the M&P and the XDm. I know lots of folks have great experience with the M&P, but I’ve heard about issues with S&W customer service.

Springfield Armory has their recurring “Gear Up” rebate going on now, which is about a $100 value to me:

https://www.springfield-armory.com/gear-up-2022/

I have had nothing but good experiences with several XDm’s in 9, 40, and 45ACP. Never had any FTF or FTE’s. They run fine.

Happened to go to PSA and saw this in the deals link:

https://palmettostatearmory.com/spr...osp-16rd-4-5-gear-up-xdme94510bhcospgu22.html

When I added it to the cart and was checking out, a pop up came up and offered an additional 5% off so the gun ended up at $583 shipped to my FFL.

I couldn’t pass that deal up. No need to send in the rebate form, and a great price for a gun I’ve been thinking about for a while.

I’ll post a Range report when it comes in and I get some rounds through it.

That's a heck of a deal. I have the 5.25 pre-Elite OSP and really like it. I much prefer it over the Gluck 20/40. BUT, the XDM10 now plays 2nd fiddle to my newish XTEN. I look forward to a range report.
