New 2011…my favorite platform!

Has had great reviews that I have seen, what is not impressing you?
Just feel cheap by 2011 standards, but granted I probably spoiled myself a little too much. Used to real smooth models with awesome triggers.

I’m not a proponent of Turkish firearms to begin with.

I hope you didn't need to get your Pit Viper from the Bowery King like John Wick did. The King got it from a guy, that knew a guy, that killed a guy 😳

Congratulations on that beautiful pistol 👍

So not quite the dark side.
Well... with apologies to Bob Seger:

Call me a relic, call me what you will
Say I'm old-fashioned, say I'm over the hill

I still believe 1911s should only come in God's Caliber, the .45 ACP. (Although with an act of contrition, the true believer is allowed one 1911 in .38 Super.)

2011’s are a different animal though. 9mm and in some cases, 40, are the calibers. A 2011 in 45 doesn’t make a lot of sense, although I do have one.

In the 4th movie it was a Pit Viper. The second movie he got the Kimber 1911 45acp from the King.

Why was the 4th movie unwatchable?

I enjoyed the 4th one. Some of the scenes were fun from a cinematography standpoint.

Some were really dumb, though.

That makes sense if you have handled one, I have not played with one yet. Thanks for your assessment, but for the cost I guess that is to be expected. I am not looking for normal 2011 quality, but a reliable woods gun for hiking and hunting. Seems to fit that bill. Nothing else I can find right now that is 1911 style, red dot ready and not cost $3K plus. I like the Cosaint as well, but more than I am willing to put into a woods gun. Thanks for the input.

The Girsans only seem to take RMSc optics, so that's a big downer. I'm curious what magazine they'll use as not many companies make 10mm double stack mags anymore. I carry an M&P 10mm hunting, 1911 grip angle, cut for every optic w/ a plate, cheap mags, and it's pretty pleasant to shoot depending on the load.

Not worried about the mags, but fully agree with your assessment on the optic cut. I would plan to run the new Trijicon RCR and would have to use a conversion plate. I could also see if it could be re-milled for a RMR footprint, not sure if that would be an option or not.

Since Cosaint Arms, a quality US based double stack 1911 maker is making the frames, I plan to reach out to them to talk about the Girsan and see what is possible with it. A little tune up could make it a great gun at a still decent price point.

Keeping an open mind, with Shot Show coming up, who knows what will come out for 2024...by way, Happy New Year!
