I sold an older upper I have and decided to get a new match barrel to go along with my new hand guard. John said my barrel would be done in a week or two - long before I got to Phoenix to shoot. It's a 28 inch .223 space gun barrel with a gas block with adjustment screws and a Bill Wylde chamber. This is going to be accurate.

John Benjamin in Portland is making the barrel as I type this. He will then button rifle it and so on. It should be ready by next week. He already made the hand guard. He gets special steel and makes his own blanks. I am getting a 4 groove 8 twist and the Wylde chamber, 28 inches long.

The barrel will be contoured and finished this week. That is great service, just in time for Phoenix next month. I think I will request that he scrubs out all the 8's.

If it were only that easy.

And work on a positive attitude . . .

Ask not that he scrub out all the 8s, ask that he scrub in only 10s and X's.

As one of the high masters I knows says..."just point the muzzle at the X ring and squeeze and the bullets will go in everytime"...

Congrats on your purchase.
I always got kind of giddy when getting a new barrel for my AR match rifle.
You'd think that after 18 of them it would have been mundane.

I hear you... Last Fall I went back to the .223 with a Wilson after a few years with the 6 RAT. The Wilson is a WOA and is quite accurate but I guess I was hungry for a new gun toy especially since trucks cost too damn much money.

Lots of Johns in the custom AR market isn't there?

One of these days I'll need to get a space gun keep my SSR company. Only problem is that John at WOA is more than a little backed up at the moment. That's okay by me though, I don't need any more guns right now.

John Benjamin in Portland is very busy these days. A friend of mine drove up there this morning and brought along my M4 receiver and bolt group. He said John was working on 20 barrels he had drilled and rifled. A new upper in two weeks is very good service.
