New 30/40 Krag ammo in a 1895 rifle

Check the bolt lug for cracks. Auto shop can magnaflux it. Only one lug so it needs to be good.
 
As far as I know, all rifles that shoot that round are "old", and almost all of them are some type of Krag, so it doesn't make sense that a factory would ever load anything excessively "hot". I myself found some 180 grain core-lock this year and fired my Krag carbine (that I have owned for about 10 years without firing it). I fired a few round at 50 yards and got a good zero (after much research to figure out how to do this). Very gentle and smooth. I decided to put "shoot a deer with my Krag" on my bucket list for this season, and I did it at about 40 yards last month. Then I cleaned it up and put it back in the safe, and started hunting again with rifles made some time in the last century. It was fun using that old Krag though.
