New 357 Lever Action

I have to wonder about this. It's not like a pistol frame or AR receiver. The 1892's frame is having to withstand the backthrust against the locking lugs. They are vertical, unlike many other designs like the 94 and I'm sure that helps. It's part of what makes the 92 and 86 so robust. I guess time will tell.

I don't know that I want one, but it sure is good looking.

^^^ That gun really does look good. I would prefer just a little less daylight between the barrel and magazine.

I think it's because the distance between the centerline of the magazine and the centerline of the bore is fixed. They use a lighter profile barrel on the .357's than they do the .44's and .45's. That coupled with the smaller magazine tube is the reason for the larger gap. It also makes them a good bit lighter. I noticed this on the new Rossi 92's. A lot of makers use the same profile regardless of caliber and the small bores all end up being way too heavy.

That rifle is very good looking . I wonder how they came up with that finish on aluminum ? Anodized , or cerakote-painted ? I wonder how durable it is . I would like to see that action from the top , if they made the sidewalls thicker . Model 92 action was massively over engineered for the original cartridges , but I wonder is it gonna hold up to 40,000 psi loads ? Hopefully it does , and they add some more calibers , namely 327 Federal !

It looks like another 92 clone. My 357 Rossi with a 20" barrel and all steel weighs 1 pound more. I will choose steel over aluminum for a high intensity round like the 357. Some aluminum alloys are pretty strong but they don't do real well with repeated long term shock. To be honest I kind of wish my Rossi had a tube loading magazine instead of the side loading gate. It would be as fast or faster loading. That is my one complaint about the rifle. It is difficult to shove cartridges through it's gate. Also being honest it has plenty of recoil with 357 loads to do me. It wouldn't be bad for hunting but for longer shooting sessions it can become wearing. I usually shoot steel with it and use 38 special loads. Not much stress on the shoulder and cheek with those.

I'd like to know what the finish is and see it when it starts to wear. I volunteer to be the guinea pig. :D

I tried the Uberti, Rossi, & Winchester at a LGS… They were also top eject with no side-loading gate.
Only the Marlin 1894 had the padded stock, side-eject, and side loading gate that I desired.
Since when do Rossi .357 carbines not have a side loading gate?

I don't know if you reload or not but my most shot 357 load is a reduced 357 load in a 357 case. I use 6.6grs of Unique with a 158gr SWC lead bullet and that gets around 1100-1150fps fro a 6" barreled revover. I haven't shot it for speed from a rifle barrel but I would guess around 1300fps. Enough that it feels like you have a little power behind the bullet without all the blast and recoil from a full power round.

I shot a large goat with that round from a 6" GP-100 and just as the shot broke the goat jumped forward. The bullet went through the left rear leg and through the paunch and out the right shoulder. The animal took about two steps and fell over dead. With the lower speed and solid bullet there wasn't any blood shot meat. Just one dead goat. I would't have a problem using this load on a deer at 50 yards or less.
