So, I went to the range with my 2 new firearms - M&P 45 FS w/ thumb safety (no mag safety!) and a Sig P226 Elite 'Dark'.

The M&P is.....an M&P. I've had many, but this is a keeper. Soft shooting, decent accuracy (from me) and ate everything I served it. Nothing more to add really (except APEX).

Now, the Sig. I have shot many in the P series from Sig over the years, but this SRT trigger is outstanding. 60% shorter reset is what Sig says, and I believe it.

Fit and finish are also outstanding, but we'll see how the finish holds up.

Accuracy was laser like. I was playing around at 25 yards doing double taps on a few B-27 targets......it was like shooting my Ruger MKI. I have never shot a firearm better on the first trip out.

I also have to admit, and this may have to do with the aluminum grips, beaver-tail, I don't know........but it felt better in my hand than my CZ 75B or BHP. And this shocks me, as I have always felt the CZ and BHP were 1a and 1b in this department.

The only downside, which I knew would be a problem, is the location of the slide release. Not sure what to do about that, as I'm not changing my grip.
But, it's a range toy.....so not a really big deal.

Ive been wanting to take some shots with a P226 for some time now. Whats the issue with the slide release?? (Id google it, but Im fasting using search right now. This site was up before I started).

Whats the issue with the slide release??

If you shoot with a high, thumbs forward grip, you will ride the slide release and it won't lock back after the last rd is fired.

Ditto here with my 239. But like you, I am not changing my grip. Even when running defensive drills I have a rough idea of how many rounds I have fired so if I pull the trigger and it goes click then it's time for a mag change. If I fire close to max mag capacity and have more targets to engage then I do an administrative change. Not complicated and good real world skills to practice regularly.

Both of these are on my must have list....or maybe a 227 instead of the M&P...or maybe a M&P 9 instead of the 226. LOL

Can anyone tell me what parts on a 226 are MIM?

I'm not wanting this to be a MIM argument, I just don't like MIM parts.

I did an internet search, but didn't get many answers.....
