Hey guys i just bought my first ar 15. Its a BCM and when i got it it was rock solid. After shooting it about 50 times and cleaning it, I noticed that when i shook the gun something sounded real lose. Read other places that it was the buffer tube, but took off the lower and shook the upper and it still rattled quite a bit. Is this normal? I think that it is either the bolt carrier group rattleing inside the upper or the bolt rattleing inside the bolt carrier group. i am a little concerned because it didnt do this when i got it, is this normal break in? thanks for the help guys

Well you could take the BCG out and shake the upper and see if you hear noise then shake the BCG. Chances are you will hear at least a little clicking in any AR as the bolt carrier does need to be able to move in the receiver and with the upper receiver off there's nothing that will hold the BCG fully forward.
A better test would be to assemble your rifle, cycle it to open the dust cover then see if you can wiggle the bolt carrier forward and back with your finger. If you can then you should inspect the back end of the bolt carrier and the end of the buffer for undue wear.
You should then also check the depth of the buffer tube and see how far up the buffer plunger stop sticks up. The buffer tube should be over the fat lip of the plunger but not be binding against the plunger pin and the plunger should move freely. The pin is what holds the buffer in the buffer tube.
I can't say more without actually looking at it.
You should also check the end of the bolt and look into the chamber area and look for wear. I'm not familiar with that manufacturer but I suppose it's possible that something was made with inferior material and has warn quickly.
If however you can't move the bolt carrier forward and back then take the upper off and with the BCG in the upper see if you can move it side to side and if so how much. A little is ok as I said, the BCG does need to move. But if you can move it more than a few thousandths then take a look at the inside of the upper receiver and see how much wear you have on the finish on the sides. Usually receivers are anodized inside and out. So if you see shiny silver aluminum then you are having wear in that spot.

I suspect that you installed the firing pin retainer before installing the firing pin. If so, that rattle is the firing pin.
after looking at it somemore, it is definately the bolt carrier group rattling inside the upper, about how tight does the bcg supposed to fit inside the upper? and how strongly does the bolt supposed to lock into the barrel? thanks again for the advice

If he did that, the rifle will be "locked up" something awful as soon as he pulls the charging handle one time.
