I was able to pick this up in a trade recently from Wayne Bell. He runs a small, one man custom shop here in central east Teaxs. He stays busy and does a lot of custom work for local law enforcement, Texas DPS, and Texas Rangers.

This gun is a full size 1911 chambered in 9mm and he got everything right. This particular model has more time and TLC in it than any of them that he has done before and it shows. Everything is fit together perfectly, the slide feels like it is gliding on oil, the trigger breaks like a glass rod at 2.5 lbs.

It has most everything I want on a Target/Competition 1911. No FCS, Speed Bump Grip Safety, Solid Trigger, Stainless Steel construction, and nice target sights. The only thing I would change is the front strap serration to a chainlink pattern.

This thing is fun to shoot and is laser beam accurate. Enjoy the pics:

Very nice piece!! If you don't mind me asking, how much did it run you?
I have a new S&W 1911 9mm Pro Series arriving in a couple of weeks and I can hardly wait. Between the light recoil and short SA trigger pull I expect it to be very easy to shoot fast and accurate. It'll be replacing my Beretta Cougar as my duty gun.

That is a nice-looking gun. :) If it were mine I would want a trigger a couple of pounds heavier and a horizontally serrated or finely checkered frontstrap, but that doesn't diminish the obvious quality of the work.

Gorgeous!!!!!!!!

The first pic got my hopes up for a Slick, CLEAN, non billboard, Texas made 1911, then the other side has to say TEXAS 9... AHHHH!!!!!!!!!!... wonder if he would do one without the rollmark.

And i absolutely LOVE the grips!.... Texas pride right there...

Does he make the grips himself, and if so, will he sell them as parts?

Good question. i sent the OP a request for Bell's contact info. Id love to find out and buy a pair if possible for my STI

He can put whatever rollmark on the side. He can do a naked slide, put your name, whatever. Also he does not make the grips, I think he has a buddy that does. He always has a nice assortment anyway. PM me if you would like his info.

This gun was one he built for himself, he did a series of "Texas 45"s for some local law enforcement and Texas Rangers. He made this one in 9mm for himself as a target pistol. I was finally able to talk him out of it after about 6 months of trying. Made him an offer he could not refuse.

He has a very nice .45 right now that would be great for IDPA or something. He let me put about 20 rounds through it the other day and it is very accurate.
