New Beretta 92 jamming-help!!

It's the ammo.

Only time my Beretta 92FS has ever jammed was early in its life cycle and with Remington UMC. It exhibited the same problems you state. It is a heavy-for-caliber weapon likely designed for NATO pressures. Stick with Fiocchi, S&B, or PMC. Mine likes all of those. After it breaks in, you could probably go back and try UMC again, and it will likely work. Mine feeds UMC just fine now, but unless it is significantly cheaper than everything else, I never buy it.

Same gun, had the same problem. It didn't matter what ammo I used. It turns out the extractor spring on top of the pistol was not seated properly. This was brand new from the factory. Once I reseated it, it hasn't had a malfunction in about 2000 rounds. I feed it anything from Wolf to custom defense rounds.

Thanks for the help. Problem is, around here, UMC is anywhere from $3-5 less than any other kind of ammo.

Well, that's the problem, I'd bet... What good is buying ammo that makes your gun not work?

Just keep it very well lubed and after a break-in period it should cycle UMC. Like I said, mine takes UMC now. After several hundred rounds downrange.

Took it out again today, again running UMC. Jammed again on the 3rd shot I fired, the next 47 fired flawlessly.

My early problems with my 92FS (see my earlier post) were with UMC and also remanufactured ammo bought at the range. After 140 rounds, it has been faultless even with UMC. (I didn't try the reman. ammo again.) I put it down to weak ammo not being able to cycle a stiff new gun.

Try laying gun on its left side. Put some oil on extractor and allow it to pool up and seep in. This cured a problem I had with my dao centurion and federal ammo. It has not had a problem since with the ammo or gun. Hope it helps

I was at local range and baretta 92 was having same problem. Gave very dissatisfied shooter some 1985 year geco ammo and no problems with a whole clip full. I had same thing with a PX4 Baretta, I gave shooter a hand full of reloades with 5.1 231 / 115 fmj and problem went away. Remington 115 fmjs run fine for me but my guns have thousands of shots down the barrels.

I prev had some issues with federal ammo, and I did this exact same thing.

However, I quit using federal and no problems since. It was happening maybe 3 times every 1k rounds. Still too often for me.

Others at the beretta forum stated the same issues. I quit using federal, though. 100% ever since without those few jams to make me doubt my weapon.Others reported the same thing when they quit federal
