New Beretta A400 Xtreme

That A400 looks pretty nice but I shoot about 4000 rds a year of 12ga shells in clay games. Would it be as reliable and trouble free as my Browning 525 Over/Under? I'm not so sure. Besides after finally finding the guns ergonomic "sweet spot" I'm finally getting some consistantly high scores with it. If I was to change guns at this point I think my scores would go down and I'd have to start all over getting used to another gun. Maybe I'm a little superstitious.

No 24" barrel offered? Darn. Turkey hunting suffers.
I'd personally like to see a PDF file showing the parts, but I'm sure the shotgun is a good one. Beretta makes durable products.
Have a 391 optima with a crappy plastic magazine stud retainer tumble design. The clothespin design was perfect on the others. And durable.
I have to go with Dave on the price, little steep. WAYYY STEEP.
I'd try to buy(find) another used 686 in 20 or 28ga for that coin.

$1700 was about what my White Onyx Sporter cost three years ago.

That handles 3" mags well, though I'll stick to Frankenstein for geese.

And I don't have to pick up any hulls. That's important at my age....

Wow, tough crowd!

I for one appreciate the overview, it's good to know what features respected manufacturers are offering in new product designs. I'm not a waterfowl hunter of any sort, and very very few firearms priced at over $1000 will ever find room in my limited budget, but I found it an informative presentation and well done. Who's going to know a new shotgun design better than the manufacturer? A certain amount of pride will excuse at least some lack of objectivity IMHO.

Of course, numbers of guns spending time in the field and pleasing their owners with their performance is the proof of the pudding for any new shotgun design...

Thanks for the link, I enjoyed the presentation. One more nose print on the virtual window, anyway 8^).

Don't get me wrong, Lee - I OWN an A400 Xplor.

I prefer Bruce Buck or Randy Wakeman to do a more honest, unbiased review than I do the maker itself.

I agree with Dave on this one. My 686 White Onyx Sport bought earlier this spring was only $1800 out the door. 686's can be found used a few hundred less than that. My forearm is at Cole Gunsmothing now converting the gun from ejectors to extractors. I am not a Greenie Wienie, but I still don't leave my trash for others behind me to pick up. Sure is a lot easier to put them in my pocket than pick them up later. :)

Would y'all have liked it better if it had been called a "new product announcement" rather than a "review?"

I would have personally - again I own one and like them - it may be only semantics to some, but to someone new to this whole realm - that's something else
