My FA vibratory tumbler gave up for the second time in 2 years (after replacing the cheap cracked bowl). So, I'm upgrading to a Berry's tumbler from Brownells. It's basically a Berry's 400 with a red bowl instead of blue. Cabelas sells the same one (in green) for $75 with media and a softer. Brownells had it for $53 (tumbler only). Lifetime warranty on the bowl and base & 3yrs on the motor. Brownells also has a lifetime warranty on anything they sell so there's that.

I'm not interested in wet tumbling since I don't have a sink in my shop. I'm hopefull that the Berry's timber will be longer lived!

I have a 5 year old Berry’s and a 7 year old FA. Both work, but the Berry’s has much more aggressive agitation, thus it works quicker. The Berry’s also has more air flow cooling the motor.

Adding more weight to the offset weight on the motor shaft will increase the agitation on any tumbler...but might shorten the motor life.:uhoh:
Also, tumbling without the cover will increase the agitation too.
:D

I have a berrys tumbler and a Lyman 1200 turbo the Lyman is 2at quieter and I really like the hard plastic lid. The berrys makes a lot more noise and the lid is really flimsy you really have to tighten down the lid to keep the noise down but it really cleans fast better than the Lyman but still like the Lyman better

Does the Berrys Tumbler use a well nut on the lid?
If not, get one, like this

:D

I have fixed my Berrys twice (Bearings), I won't fix it again. I think I got a bad one.

I made a tumbler with a motor from a $10 box fan, used those well nuts on the ends of the springs, and bought a bowl/lid from Lyman, but have since bought a lid/bowl from Harbor Freight ($8) that works better.
:D

I bet if you contacted them and sorta, kinda, name dropped who you are, they would send you a new one no questions asked!.:D

Seriously, not even mentioning you are a mod on a big forum they have good service and most companies do not want to have unhappy customers..

I think that Thumblers is the best one out there and it is all made in the USA,

Tilos, thanks for that tip!

Have a cheap HF one which keeps running but the nut will work it's way off the top. Your solution is much better than the tape I have been using :) Thanks!

Might be a metric thread on the HF tumbler :uhoh:.
There are metric well nuts, probably not a Home Depot though.
Check ebay, metric well nuts are used on the fairings of Japanese motorcycles.

Damn, you only need one :fire:
Edit::: You could change out the center bolt/screw to 1/4x20 threaded rod, then those "inch" well nuts will work...thank me later
:D

I have been lucky with my Berry's 400 tumbler in Cabela's Green. Like already said, they are available from several vendors including Cabela's, Brownells, Sinclair, Grafs and several others too.

I'm on my second HF vibratory tumbler. Beat the crap out of the first one for 3 years. I only buy HF items on sale and with a 20-25% off coupon. Never pay full price there. Paid $44 for the last one.

Some useful mods: The top screw is metric, I use a large plastic knob that I drilled out and threaded. Spins on/off real quick and easy. Add a nut on top of the center shaft spacer and it wont fall off every time you empty the tumbler. Add a tight fitting rubber washer on top of that nut as a spacer so that you don't have to over flex the lid to tighten it down. I removed the rubber seal from the bowl and applied some gasket tape (could use weather strip tape) into the groove in the lid. The existing seal will fall off eventually anyway. Use double sided carpet tape to secure the two washers to the top of the lid. Replace the original feet with taller ones to improve airflow and cooling.

I Never had any of those Cheap Reloading Tumbler. Most If not all are sub standard. Nice Colors buy burn Up in a Few Years. More complaints , No parts and repairs. I strictly use Rotary's.
I still have my first lortone , 12lb. , 20 years Old, same motor , same belt. just Runs & runs.

You might consider changing the center rod to 1/4x20 threaded rod, so you can use those well nuts, they work great.

No more cheap tumblers for me. I went thru two in only five years of reloading. I recently found a used Thumblers and just yesterday, a used and hopefully, old enough, Lyman. Today I rigged up a thingy to sit on top of the Lyman and act like an ultrasonic with solvent. I ain't no Jmorris but do make some gizmos. Regarding the cheap stuff, a pretty smart guy at Cabelas says they are all made in the same Chinese plant, all the brands.

My first tumbler was a Dillion 500 but the motor died. It's too bad the great Dillion company wanted to charge me only $20 less than buying a new one to fix the old oneeven though they admit to using inferior motorways discontinuing the CV500 in favor of the CV750. So much for the great CS alleged to come from Dillon.
