I was looking at some different (more budget minded) holsters for my new Ruger BlackHawk CarryHawk, I found Gary C's Leather on flebay and they had a model called 'Avenger OWB' for the standard NM BlackHawk. I was not sure if my BH Carryhawk was the exact same size as the standard Blackhawk but decided to take a chance. Well, whether it's the same size or not I still don't know but the holster was quite a bit small/really tight to the tune of not being able to get the barrel/ejector/sight in at all, and even as I worked it (early on) then I couldn't get the cylinder in either.

I didn't panic (much..lol) and took a good look at how well this holster was made, and would probably hold up to some very patient stretching. It was also bleeding black from the inside so I used neutral polish with brushes and buffers, and then some waterproof sealer to finish it. It softened the leather just a bit and stopped the black stain bleeding. Then I took measurements of the barrel assy and cylinder and found items around the house as exact as possible to shove in the appropriate parts of the holster with plastic bags. It was a crazy looking setup (see the pics below) but after leaving it for a week it worked out perfect and the gun slides in properly and gets just a little snug when fully seated. With use it should wear in properly, but it's fine now as is. I was worried trying to over stretch it would damage it but it's built really well and strong. I got lucky, and my CarryHawk has a nice holster now.

I got curious about the Carryhawk and couldn't find a lot of info on that Ruger model even after doing a search on their website. No wonder you had a time finding a holster. It looks nice though. I see you're from MN. Lobo Leather Works in Ely does some fine holsters for Ruger Blackhawks and they are accommodating folks who do nice work.

Thanks URIT I'll look into them. I have a NM BH Flattop Convertible that needs a holster but I hadn't gotten around to it, so I'll check them out.

Nice looking holster for your CarryHawk! Glad to hear you got the fitment problem resolved and the holster is now working out like it should!
