I just got a CVA Electra .50 and it is my first BP gun. I have tried a few loads, Hornady FPB and some cheap 240 grain lead sabots. The FPBs I couldnt get to seat all the way in the barrel, too tight so I gave up on them. The sabots load easy and I tried them over 100 grains of triple 7 pellets. My biggest concern is that ignition isnt instant, there is a slight delay after I pull the trigger, fractions of a second but definitely detectable. It also seemed to very, some shots went off relatively quickly and some delayed longer. Is this a trait with black powder guns? the Electra wasnt a commercial success and I am sure someone is going to blame the platform but is there a faster burning powder or pellet I can switch to?

+1 on the goex. It don't take nothing to set that stuff off. Tripple 7 is harder to set off in a lot of guns. If that don't work than you already said it, it's most likly the gun.

Pellets suck. You may be better off using pyrodex pellets as they have a dark end which contains a skim of black powder to help them ignite. Or switch to loose powder (T7 will work well) and you should have much better luck.

There can be a discernable delay with blackpowder occasionally, it will never be as fast as a centerfire, but it's usually due to a partially obstructed passage. Loose Triple 7 fires reliably in every one of my sidelocks with less fouling than Goex.

guys this muzzleloader is Electronic. The pellets will be a bit harder to set off, especially if those pellets have been sitting on the shelf for a long while.

If you read the book, it tells you to push the load down the last 1/8 in to crush the pellet at the electrode. Are you doing this?
