I just got a CVA Electra .50 and it is my first BP gun. I have tried a few loads, Hornady FPB and some cheap 240 grain lead sabots. The FPBs I couldnt get to seat all the way in the barrel, too tight so I gave up on them. The sabots load easy and I tried them over 100 grains of triple 7 pellets. My biggest concern is that ignition isnt instant, there is a slight delay after I pull the trigger, fractions of a second but definitely detectable. It also seemed to very, some shots went off relatively quickly and some delayed longer. Is this a trait with black powder guns? the Electra wasnt a commercial success and I am sure someone is going to blame the platform but is there a faster burning powder or pellet I can switch to?
