I am looking for a new pistol for CCW. I have been looking around and thought that I made my mind up and was going to go with a Ruger SR9c but found out that the great state of California (sarcasm??) doesnt have this gun on their approved list so no go on the Ruger. I have started looking at the Sig P250 Compact. I have a few other Sigs and i love them, no question about it but i am currently not available to visit any shops and get a feel for it myself. If anyone has a 250 compact or has experience with it then please let me know your thoughts. I cant find a good review of it. I would also like to know if its a comfortable IWB carry (usually around a 4-5 o'clock carry)

Thank you all

That's too bad :( . The SR9c is an excellent weapon. Good luck with your search.

RegTag Remeber when you visit these forums you are getting a reply form only a small percentage of owners and at time it seem s only the volcal minority at time. Ever producer of handguns makes a few turds and those tend to be the loudest of the crowd. I own 2 of the named pistol that seem more owners whin about and never had a problem to fuction in years of use. Matter of fact in 26 years of CC and 46 years of shooting I have never owed a bad firearm. So find your list of what is cali legal see if any memebers liveing near you will let you shoat theres,Most will. maybe rent at a range. many will let you shoot different pistols with in a caliber at no extra charge. .

I did find one list that shows the ruger sr9c legal there -http://www.impactguns.com/ruger-sr9c-compact-pistol-9mm-3317-736676033171.aspx

I dont know who told you that but they are 100% WRONG.

The following are on the approved CA hand gun list.

http://certguns.doj.ca.gov/

BSR9C-10-CT 03329 / Alloy Steel Slide; Poly Frame

BSR9C-10L (Black) / Alloy Steel Slide; Polymer Frame

KSR9C-10-CT 03328 / Stainless Steel

KSR9C-10L (Brushed Stainless) / Polymer Frame; Stainless Steel Slide

KSR9C-NRA 03325 / Stainless Steel

Also, on Rugers site they have a simple button to push that shows all of their CA approved handguns.

In fact Turners Outdoors has them on sale for $440 (check stock yourself) and there is a store close to you in San Marcos very closed to Escondido. Just 30 min/30 miles from the heart of San Diego

Im curious.. who told you they werent? If it was a gun shop... go to a different shop. You deserve a better shop if it was.

I am not in the country right now and I did check the CA approved list and didnt see it on there. Thank you for your inputs you kinda just made my day! I will go back and check just to see where I overlooked it. I also asked a friend of mine to go by our local gun shop and they said that they "havent seen any in a while". I guess my buddy took that as a california doesnt permit them so it was most likely a miscommunication.

Once again, thank you all for your inputs!

That explains it.

On the CA gun list the model #'s dont start with "SR" and I over looked it myself. I knew it was wrong so I did a "CNTL+F" with SR after pluging in Ruger as the mgf.

I dont have one but it seems like I pretty much only see positive reviews of them.

Turners seems like they have them all the time and often on 'sale'.

Come back safe and buy one.

Red, i'm glad I don't live in California. I just went to youtube a searched Sig P250 and came up with a dozen reviews if you are still interested.

Get the SR9c it has a really nice trigger and is accurate and dependable. I carry one loaded with Hornady Critical Defense 115 gr and luv it. So far fired about 300 flawless rounds thru it.

When you first get the SR9c clean and oil it good because they put a lot of packing grease inside. Great carry gun.

Thank you for your help! I will be home in a few months and i am already itching to get the SR9c!

I will take most any gun over the P250, I just flat-out dislike it (but love other Sigs)

The SR9c is a great gun (from the several that I have shot), and one that I am considering myself.

Wasn't on your list but maybe check out the Kahr CW or PM9. They are a little thinner coming in at .90 vs the sig 1.3 inches and the Ruger 1.27. It's a small difference but I carry the Kahr CW9 and have been very happy with it.
