According to whom? Got anything to back that up? That's a pretty bold claim.

Maybe I should have said that it is more accurate for me. I've shot my CZ against Glocks, Sigs, USPs, Smiths, Brownings, and Berettas and in my hands it is more accurate than any of the others; hands down. As far as reliability, I regularly shoot 3K rounds between cleanings and have yet to have any FTF, FTE, or any other failure. This is using WWB, several diferent brands of +p JHP, Blazer, Wolf, S&B, dirty nasty military surplus, basically everything but reloads. That enough to back up my statement. I guess it's bold, but for good reason. You got any proof to the contrary? :)

Well I didn't mean to imply they weren't reliable, just suggesting maybe they don't surpass as much as match the others in reliability. It seems that most handguns out there are more accurate than the average shooter. Like you said, it's all about finding the one you shoot the best, but that doesn't mean that gun is any more accurate than any other model out there. I personally can shoot my Sig better than just about anything out there, but that's because I've put a lot of rounds down the pipe.

I've got nothing against the P-01 (heck, Ive been lusting after one for a while), but I find the notion that any pistol is the be-all end-all of pistols a little much. :)

Not saying by any means that they are the be-all-end-all, just that they are the be-all-end-all for me ;)

I voted for the CZ, but the XD would also be an excellent choice. After playing around with a P250 in a local shop 2 weeks ago, I would not even consider it. I was quite disappointed. The trigger was terrible, and it simply felt incredibly cheap overall. Not even remotely like a $600 handgun. Does it work well? No idea.....and for $600 I have no desire to find out.

Do yourself a favor and check out the S&W M&P as well. I recently picked up the .45 version and I've been very happy with it so far. Feels great in the hand and is priced very competitively with the current rebate deal.

im picking up a SR9 in about 3 weeks... though it was a tough choice between that and the beretta Px4...

Unless you are talking HK P30/P2000 or Sig 226, rest are not even compasrion with Glock 19. Used it for 15 years, fire 20,000, still running. Also you get extended 31 shot mags for it.

I voted Glock 19. I have the Glock 23 and it is great. I have shot the XD and CZ75 as rentals or from a friend a few times.

First, all of te guns listed a quality products and I bet you would be happy with any of them, so promise yourself not to have buyers remorse no matter which one you get. Just enjoy the heck out of it.

Why the Glock 19? It is the most proven model listed. It is lightweight for carry, durable, simple to operate, not great but a decent trigger pull, accurate for self defense, reliable. But, another thing I like is that it has just a few parts and you can get all of them over the Internet dirt cheap. I like havinf a couple of sets of spare parts handy, although I have never needed to do a repair yet. And , the G19 is very simpler to detail strip and replace parts. Much simpler than my 1911 or Hi-Power.

I actually like the trigger of the XD better, but Glock is more proven in the field for now and you can only send it into Springfield repair rather than fixing it yourself. Otherwise the XD was slightly better to shoot than the Glock, for me.

SIG has always been top quality and I would expect the P250 to be right up there, too. As a first pistol I would stay with a very proven design. But lust for the SIG later!

The CZ75 is a classic and proven pistol. The drawback would be it is a bit heavier in case you want to carry. If you don't plan to carry it on you then it should be a strong consideration. They are well made, a proven design, I believe parts are easily available, and you can have it all SA or DA/SA trigger so you get the best of both worlds.

I would rank them for your case as Glock19, then CZ75, XD9 and finally the new P250.

SIG P250

I just added on to my collection and I can say that it is, hands down, the best polymer weapon I have ever seen and/or held. The trigger pull is amazingly smooth and consistent. Also, modular design of the firearms means you can upgrade it into many different firearms without having to go back through an FFL again.

For example, I have the basic compact 9mm compact model with 15rnd mag. Their will be a slightly longer frame sold soon that will accommodate a 20rnd magazine. And, when you decide you want a .40S&W, .357 Sig, or .45ACP (and these models become available) all you will have to do is buy the upper receiver parts, frame and magazines. The trigger assemble (which is the serialized "firearm") can be swapped into these parts in less than 1 minute.

Definitely at least take a look at one at a local gunshop (if they have one available).
