Got this today; I already have the full size Coonan with a 5" and 6" bbl. Calling it "compact" is a bit of a stretch IMHO but ok it's smaller than the full size. Not a pocket pistol however. I really like the full size Coonan, quite a blast but not much recoil since the heavy slide and spring soak up most of it. Anyway, with a stout load of Blue Dot or H110 this will be fun! And no, the Coonan was NOT my first gun.

That gun (a Coonan) is my my bucket list to try someday

Congrats- nice looking pistol!

Thx for the comments! The trigger is what I'd call typical high end 1911. I haven't gotten to the range yet with it, but I've got plenty of ammo loaded and ready!

Very nice looking compact Coonan. One thing that has impressed me about Coonan Arms is that every one of their guns that I have looked at over the years has been well made with great attention to detail and overall fit and finish.

bannockburn, I wish my experience was the same. A LGS got 3 new Coonans in at the same time, every one felt different to me, none of them felt especially good. For the price they want I just didn't feel the love, passed. They still have one under glass so obviously my impressions weren't unanimous.

I have the 5" and the 4" compact and love them both. I've not shot the compact either but I have about 2k rounds to see how well I like it.
