I bought it for several reasons. Picked it up from CDNN after seeing if the local shop could come close. They said order it from CDNN because their cost was $380.

1) Too good of a deal to pass up. Missed out on the CZ-75B with a 13 round and a 10 round when they were $300 years ago and regret it. Prices of the CZ-97B have been coming up to where they should be, missed out getting one for $455. Didn't want to miss out on another good deal on a CZ.

2) I keep raving about the CZs and I don't own one of their pistols. Now that I have one of my own I realize all my raving was justified :)

3) I didn't have a "normal" autoloader. Everything is either a long slide, or not in the original caliber, or just plain huge.

Now that I have it, man do I love it. This gun would be a deal at the $450 street price they were originally going for. Alloy frame so it's not too heavy, very light single action trigger but needs to be broken in, has a bit more take-up than I'd like but still MUCH better than my Glock ;). Double action trigger is heavy but smooth.

Functions perfectly with the 10 round factory magazine although even with my light 165 gr reloads I was shooting I could see why people say they're under-sprung. Very snappy recoil. Still, before I bump up to a heavier spring I'm going to try my 135 grain loads in it.

The gun is accurate. Very accurate. Not quite "crazy accurate" like my friends CZ-97B but it has the advantage of a bushing barrel. The test target showed a roughly 2.5" group at 25m with S&B ammo. It's easy to shoot well too. Shooting just about as fast as I could get a sight picture I put 50 rounds through a 6" diamater hole with about 40 of those going into 4" and about 30 of those into 3" and the 1" bullseye was nowhere to be found.

I purchased some EAA Witness .41 AE 12 round magazines from CDNN at the same time to use in it since they're $10 cheaper than the factory 10 rounders and only $2 more than the EAA 10 rounders.

I had to modify them slightly to work with the CZ-40B. This involved opening up the magazine out to the feed lips at the back and dropping the opening slightly to clear the ejector and slide. Took me all of 15 minutes to get all 3 mags done with my Dremel on the bench like a grinder and holding the mags. This gave me better control than trying to hold the Dremel and the mag in my hands.

Two are still having some feed issues on the last few rounds where the rounds don't go fully into the chamber so I'm going to tweak them a little more then they should be fine. After looking at them I didn't widen the right side all the way on the one's that aren't functioning correctly.

When the rounds don't feed correctly they seem to be getting hung on the rim going into the chamber so some slight polishing there might be a good move but I'm going to try fixing the mags first since it works fine with the factory. There is a warning about LSWC not wanting to feed and I can see why if it's hanging on the rim of a FMJ TC.

It comes in a plastic foam lined case with a nylon bore brush, a plastic tool for disassembly (not really nessisary for field stripping once you've taken it down a couple times but might be needed to detail strip), instruction manual, inspection slip and test target. The magazine was in the gun when it arrived. CDNN pulls the 2nd mag that normally is packaged in a CZ and sells them seperately for $30 which is why I went with the EAA 12 rounders.

In conclusion if you're shopping for a semi-auto .40 this is the best deal around. If you have the means, pick one up before it's too late. A great gun worth much more than it costs. CDNN's claim of "The best semi-auto handgun deal in America" doesn't really seem like a boast now that I have it.

Blacky....I COULD NOT AGREE WITH YOU MORE! I went one further...Mine got a bobtail workover, beavertail work and melted frame. Its getting hard chromed with some other goodies currently and cant wait to get it back....
Ill post some pics of it in 2 weeks when I get it back...........should be a bloody gorgeous gun and a shooter to boot.

Shoot well.......

The Black Sheep of the CZ family. The 40B has done well the past few years
as for having little problems with breakage. You never hear of a bad one..
only that the trigger isn't quite as nice as some would like.

1911s don't fit me well, soo the 40B never really found a warm place in
my heart. Now you probably need to get some Hakans and Nites??
They make a 40B an even better gun.

Black Snowman,

Ditto everything you said. I'm really happy with mine. The deal from CDNN was too good to pass up. I found it very easy to shoot well. The fit and finish is great. The best buy in autoloaders at the moment IMHO.

mephisto,

I believe it was a Galil in .308. So many quotable lines in that movie!

After Jack (Jerry Reed) shoots Don's (Robin Williams) gun:

"You're not supposed to shoot someone's gun #@$%^&! You know what those things cost? That's a $1000 gun."

Ok, back on topic, the CZ40B, great gun, great price.
