Thinking about trading a Glock toward a new CZ. The choice will be between a PCR and a SP-01. I know that they are sort of made for different purposes but that won't make a huge difference to me. Either way, it will see some HD use, some carry but not much, and it will get shot a hell of a lot.
I like the way both feel and I'm not put off by the bigger size of the SP-01 because my CCW peice is a Kahr P9. The CZ would only be carried in colder weather or in situations where I could dress around it anyhow so size isn't a big deal.
What is the holster availability like for the SP-01?
Any other insight?
Going to possibly make the deal tomorrow so if you can help, please do.
Thanks.

SP-01 with bias. I'd have to say that I'm not that familiar

with the other model, but after having the SP-01 for 4 months and 1300 rounds through the pipe with many varying ammo types, I don't see how it could get much better. I'm a heavy shooter though, and usually only keep those that are fun to shoot a lot on a regular basis. I'd say that if you are in heavy clothes country and do not carry daily, the SP-01 is a decent choice, but better range option also.

+1 on the SP-01. Cocked & Locked carry, 19+1 capacity (never mind the expensive mags), and full-length dustcover for additional recoil reduction make it more than worth the size. Oh, and don't forget the rail for tactilol factor:

Edit: The SP-01 in that image has a decocker. Pretend it's a manual safety, please.

Thanks. I got nothing against a decocker though. I had a SIG for awhile and the CZ decocker works about the same way. My local shop has that exact setup in the display right now but I don't think I'll have any use for the bayonet.
Still thinking on it though. What has it been like to get a holster for them?

bladetech makes one, but that is about it. people have had good results with holsters built for glock 20/21's, and i use an uncle mikes kydex glock 20/21 holster. it fits great. if you are looking for an IWB, or another style, you may just have to buy something generic for a large gun, and make sure its slim. i am in the same predicament as you holster wise. i love my SP-01, but want to carry it without looking like i didn't make it to the restroom on time.

Both pistols come with the rubber grips, which I feel are the best in the industry for comfort. The SP 01 is huge, so for me I don't carry it. I don't normally get bothered by size, but the SP 01 is too big for me. As a night stand pistol, I say it would be tough to beat the SP 01. For carrying, I feel that there are better options PCR or P 01.

If it's primarily for range & HD, with a little carry, then the SP-01

If expect more carry time, you'll be very glad you picked the PCR:D

If I ever get an SPO1, I'll let you know how it carries. I did carry a full size Witness steel 40 for 13 years without a problem. Good leather makes a world of differance.

Eventhough I love the feel of the SP-01 I think I am probably going to go with the PCR just because of the size and weight difference. I don't really plan to carry it often but I'd like to when I want to. Still have to play around with both a little more too though.

I agree with your your choice of the PCR. It's lighter, has a decocker and no light rail. Once you have it, you will find that you will be carrying it more often than you thought. I have the PCR and a Kahr PM9. In really hot weather with minimal clothing, the PM9 is more suitable but whenever the situation changes, the PCR is my choice, it shoots faster, more reliable, comfortable in hand and has more rounds. For carry purposes, that tactical rail is a waste. Do you really think a lot of people want to carry an attached
flashlight?
As far as a holster, there are lots around for the PCR. Bulmann, Rusty Sherrick make custom ones and Fist makes a very thin plastic one.

Good luck.

If you're thinking about any amount of carry, I'd think the PCR would be better (or +1 the recommendation of the P-01). I really like my SP-01, but it would be a beast to carry in any kind of concealed holster due to the weight primarily, but also the size to a degree.
